Mike Unser –
The 2020-S ASE $1 Proof coin was available for a short period this morning. The Mint sent out an e-mail notice at 8:04am Central Time.
Also, the Mint said & its website has always said the Women’s Suffrage Proof silver $1 coin & proof silver medal set would have a limited mintage of 10,000 sets and they have sold more than 10,000 sets in their last 3 sales reports.
They can’t perform simple accounting practices it seems!
NumisdudeTX
They sold 217,000+ of the 2ook mintage ASE “S” Proof….mint bookeeping!! So they sell coins after they are pulled for melting & sell 10% more than the max mintage. Who can you trust baby? Not the Mint. ASE another price increase is coming, why not the sheeple keep throwing their Ducat$ away. Sorry don’t NEED any, ANY Mint product, kids think about needs v. wants……time will make these cheaper lest AG pops again!! Historically for sure…..
So thats means 33k proof Womens proof sold to 9k of unc. Seems to me in the long run the unc coins will be scarcer…. just like what happened to with the cancer awareness coins
Thus item must come with free cheese or something. Why would it sellout @ 200k? @ $73 3x spot? Therre are millions & millions of these about 2020 the last year for a tired reverse, OK. Great they put a few up @ 4am Pacific time, no shocker. The Mint is run like a 3rd world puppet factory
I came to this site thinking i could learn about coin collecting but after reading comments for a month this site must sell cheese because their are a lot of whining
I’m with you 100% “old ladies” are back in full force…LOL
I couldn’t say it any better myself
I agree & posted on this.
The whining is bad but if you ask a question you will get an answer!
A 200k limit on the 2020 S Silver Eagle and they sell 217k!? They were supposed to cut the limit to 150k because they’re gonna use the same 2020 S Silver Eagle in the “United States Mint Limited Edition 2020 Silver S Proof Set” Which is usually limited to about 50K. I guess there won’t be a limit on this coin somebody at the US Mint screwed up the math again! (Mintage Limit: 200,000)
(Product Limit: 200,000)
This is frustrating indeed; I made the purchase expecting max 200k production, but now learning it’s more than they stated. Does this mean they can decided to not follow the mintage limit anytime they please? So the upcoming V75 is supposed to be 1945 for EOWWII but what if they decide to pop more?
Looks like the 5oz Salt river coin is also unavailable and within 25 pieces of maximum mintage….at least they got that one right. I guess we shall see what happens once adj to the 2020-S ASE come in with defects or miscounts.
Some think it ts alright they can exceed set limits ( to them it should only be a guide). I DO NOT ! Some think it is alright that they sell things that should have been destroyed and not sold. I DO NOT! Some think they made $ on such sales but I think if they had melted the coins,(as required?) they would already be ahead of what they got and long-term (just look at their new price increases) will lose much more! As stated before they should be held to account! They no not know what they do (we… Read more »
I remember earlier I had said what if the limits are only guides. I was being sarcastic. We can play the what if game all day long, but it doesn’t do any good. Personally I don’t care if we get an explanation. Why should we? Oh because we are overpaying? We overpay for a lot of things in America and never get an explanation. Maybe you should go work for the Mint, if you’ve got the chutzpah.
Honest is what honest is. Sad “honest” must no longer be.
The U.S. Mint did not immediately respond to a CoinNews request for comment. Well. Well water? Thats a deep subject for shallow minds. I would not hold my breath for a response. It is ironic to be in a coinage hobby and the US Mint has 0 arithmetic. I still bought one, it looks good.
All these whiners should go shop on Rick Tomaska’s Ebay Ebay Ebay!!!! Hurry Hurry Hurry!!!!
Why the heck wouild we give him even the sveat off our ballz. Maybe he has 40k of hese stashed with a gallon of mustard. Whining no, commenting about the USM shady practices yes…..
What happened to all the uncut paper money they haven’t had anything available and everything’s either sold out or permanently unavailable
I agree! The conversations here should be about the hobby and not the constant whining about spot price or TV coin shows.
Spot price$ & rip off TV schysters are related to the HOBBY – it is not all unicorns, lollipos & Enhanced Rev ASE for $53$ today….
Is anyone going for the gold v75 coin? After the near impossibility of even getting a single limited release coin, trying to get both a silver and gold v75 coin will not be possible. Are you guys shooting for silver, gold or both.? I am in Australia, and face a secondary authentication step when buying internationally, so even getting a silver isn’t likely. That and if I forget to wake at 2am 🙂
You are referring to the privy mark for the 75th anniversary of the allied victory in WWII on the upcoming Gold Eagle to be released Nov. 5th at noon (mintage of 1945)!! YES!!!
AU will sell out in a blink, the AG maybe 10m or less or 5min….you need a Cray supercomputer as the big boys will have their Army of buyers ready to roll
2020S American Proof Silver Eagle, still waiting for Mike Mezack’s returns from ANACS available soon!!! Just Understand!!!
Soooo according to what i just read 2020 is NOT the last of the old silver eagles…..something to the extent they are going to produce the old for the first half of year and the new the 2nd half?
domenic – Yes, that is the case. The new design will not appear on the ASE $1 coin & the gold American Eagle coins till approximately half way through next year. The 2021 silver & gold American Eagle Proof & Unc.-Burnished will have the same designs as since 1986 for at least the first half of next year, according to a statement by the Mint. So, a lot of people got screwed thinking 2020 was the last year as advertised by many coin dealers & especially the unscrupulous t.v. coin shopping shows like HSN with ripoff dealer Mike Mezack, who… Read more »
Can ANYONE help me & explain why this went CU so fast? I can’t see there bein 200k ASE collectors left…
Chas. Barber –
The Mint pulled a fast one making it seem that this was the last Proof ASE with the old reverse design. Then after this common as dirt coin sold out at $73 per pop with silver spot at about $24, they announced all the ASE $1 coins in the first half of. 2021 will have the old design till mid-2021 when the new designs for the silver & gold American Eagles will br issued.
Wizard of Oz kind of stuff by puppet Mint Director David J. Ryder.
NumisdudeTX
Yes and when they sell low mintage coins that are hard to get, then folks will complain about that as well…
