The Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee (CCAC) will hold a meeting by teleconference on Tuesday, Nov. 17, to review and discuss candidate designs for the Congressional Gold Medals honoring Katherine Johnson and Dr. Christine Darden in accordance with the Hidden Figures Congressional Gold Medal Act.
The CCAC is tasked with advising the Secretary of the Treasury on themes and designs pertaining to all United States coins and medals.
As stated by Public Law 116-68, the Hidden Figures Congressional Gold Medal Act:
"Award Congressional Gold Medals to Katherine Johnson and Dr. Christine Darden, to posthumously award Congressional Gold Medals to Dorothy Vaughan and Mary Jackson, and to award a Congressional Gold Medal to honor all of the women who contributed to the success of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration during the Space Race."
