Thank you M.U. I would also like to thank our wonderful mint director for his kind words about their failure to adequately produce enough of something for everyone. I give him an E for effort on the letter. I do agree a quick sell out is not what they want. As for his minions that failed to gauge the response for a significant event in our history such as WW2 , I would start accepting job aplications at the mint. How the Wizards under David thought a coin slabbed with orange paint would garner thousands of more sales than a… Read more »
Director’s self serving BS?!!!; especially about all treated same. How about sales to dealers by sealed bids of products that legally should have been destroyed years ago and not/never entered the market?
As far as legality and the US mint, please dont make me laugh. Laws appear to only apply to us taxpayers. I understand where your frustration comes from, I felt the same way about a lot of things with the US mint and the Wizardry that operates within. One day I came to the realization that my connection to coins far outweighs mismanagement I cant control in any direction, other than how I choose to spend my dollars on mint products. I think the mint does a terrible job of widening its customer base, I dont see them advertise anywhere.… Read more »
Ronald Regan is spinning in his grave
C’mon man, look. I collect. I have no intention of selling my hobby away. If I can time a purchase right, great, if not, great, wasnt meant to be. I certainly wont be spinning in my grave over previous purchases or missed purchases or what misguided generations do after my death. I wont care if I’m dead. If you sell, good for you, if you collect, good for you.
I have a question for you guys who are well informed about the coin collecting world. How does the US Mint know how to ship me 69 grade coins rather than 70 grade coins? Wouldn’t that take some effort on their part and slow the shipping process? I ask this question as a result of the last gold modern coin I received from the US Mint and sent to PCGS for grading. It was the Gold End of WWII v75 privy proof coin and graded PR69DCAM. Now if this were the only modern gold coin I had sent to PCGS… Read more »
The USM & it’s sale methods sux, but I doubt they cherry pick b4 sending stuff out…they just sell @ 3:50AM to their buds who just happen to be loitering @ USM website @ 4am’i$h…They’rs $$$$$ to be made here!! CC Ryder
Exactly so
I would never send any coin out for grading. Grading is a joke, but hey they may advertise a bit more to drum up business, good for them. I think grading should be a simple genuine or not genuine, no plastic. They would have repeat customers with that business model and the flippers could be even more like sheep
MCM coin and NGC in Sarasota Fl will soon have a lot more ILLEGALS working there with S J Biden’s new open borders!!!!
MCM in Sarasota, Florida has a dedicated backdoor entrance to NGC headquarters in Sarasota. Such a sham!
NGC is a privately held corporation & they are not impartial in their second-rate coin grading.

In spirit of the 400th anniversary of the Mayflower and the 399 anniversary of Thanksgiving I would like to thank people like SR who continue to advocate for true hobbyists. I would nominate him for any excess V75 gold coins on a pro rated basses, speculated by one in a million ebayers #notNebayer. And I nominate C B, the old sausage to cry me a river. P.S. I bought doubles of the Mayflower anniversary set (today yes today) to spite the flippers. Thank you sheep with CC debt or returners with cry me a river stories. I collect and, I… Read more »
And CB (notcornbread) mileage may be running on old oil + smug from the fact the greatest generation actually brought us the neediest population… Much thanks CB. Teach your loins properly, kids, dont be gone with the wind like an old fart. #collect and preach collecting
If a mouse farts at U.S. Mint headquarters in Washington D.C., does the Mint’s 10-year out-of-date computers & website crash?? Lol.
(I’m a professional numismatist & a U.S. Mint customer since 1976, & 7 long years away from full retirement!). My four nephews will inherit a small fortune of old “classic” coins, including ancients & modern coins from world Mint’s, plus tokens, medals & paper money, an eclectic mix for sure.
NumisdudeTX
I don’t work for the mint but if I did! lol. I wish collecting used to be as fun as coin hunting! I think your family will appreciate your forward thinking. I don’t know why but I really never liked the thought of collecting ancient coins I do have a good mix of paper and a few coins from trips overseas but never really wanted to continue in that area, who knows maybe that will change. For now I continue a collection passed down as a fun hobby with memories I’ll never forget. Those 7 years will fly by before… Read more »
