Precious metals declined Thursday, marking losses ranging from 0.6% for gold to 1.5% for silver. Palladium gave back more than 1%, retreating from a record settlement.
Gold for June delivery settled down $11.10 to $1,782 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange.
"Gold and silver prices are lower in midday U.S. trading Thursday, on normal corrective pullbacks and some chart consolidation after recent gains that saw both metals hit multi-week highs on Wednesday. Some profit taking from the shorter-term futures traders was also featured. Bulls are still enjoying near-term price uptrends in place on the daily bar charts," Jim Wyckoff, a senior analyst at Kitco Inc, said in a daily research note.
Gold futures ranged from a low of $1,777.10 to a high of $1,798.10. They gained 0.8% on Wednesday, they rose 0.4% on Tuesday, and they fell 0.5% on Monday.
Silver for May delivery declined 39 cents to settle at $26.18 an ounce. Silver futures traded between $26.06 and $26.67. They soared 2.8% on Wednesday, they edged 0.01% higher on Tuesday, and they dropped 1% on Monday.

July platinum fell $6.20, or 0.5%, to $1,208.50 an ounce, ranging from $1,200.30 to $1,221.90.
- Palladium for June delivery declined $32.70, or 1.1%, to $2,842.90 an ounce, trading between $2,814.50 and $2,894.
