In futures trading Tuesday, gold edged lower while silver, platinum and palladium advanced. Palladium logged another record.
Gold for June delivery shed $1.30, or 0.07%, to settle at $1,778.80 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange.
"Gold investors will be watching for any indications from the Fed as to whether they’re seeing any longer-term sustainable inflation," Reuters quoted Jeffrey Sica, founder of Circle Squared Alternative Investments.
The Fed’s two-day monetary policy meeting ends Wednesday afternoon.
Gold futures ranged from a low of $1,773.90 to high of $1,785.90. They rose 0.1% on Monday.
Silver for May delivery climbed 20.1 cents, or 0.8%, to settle at $26.410 an ounce. Silver futures traded between $26.10 and $26.52. They moved up 0.5% on Monday.

July platinum rose $4.30, or 0.4%, to $1,249.50 an ounce, ranging from $1,238.20 to $1,261.80.
- Palladium for June delivery tacked on $43.30, or 1.5%, to a record settlement of $2,952.60 an ounce. Palladium prices traded between $2,888 and $2,962.50.
