Palladium rallied on Monday while gold, silver and platinum declined. Gold’s loss was its third straight, although each retreat has been very modest — 0.2% on Thursday and 0.1% on both Friday and Monday.
Gold for December delivery declined $1.70 to settle at $1,755.70 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange.
"Gold investors seem to have come around to agreeing with the rest of the market’s interpretation of the September jobs number, basically that it wasn’t bad enough to derail the [Federal Reserve’s] plans to taper very soon," MarketWatch quoted Brien Lundin, editor of Gold Newsletter.
Gold futures ranged from a low of $1,749.90 to a high of $1,761.10. They shed 0.06% last week.
Silver for December delivery lost 4 cents, or 0.2%, to close at $22.665 an ounce. Silver futures traded between $22.49 and $22.83. They gained 0.8% last week.

January platinum fell $21.30, or 2.1%, to $1,006.90 an ounce, ranging from $1,004.60 to $1,037.60.
- Palladium for December delivery advanced $46.50, or 2.2%, to $2,119.50 an ounce, trading between $2,085 and $2,179.50.
Last week platinum surged 5.6% and palladium soared 8.9%.
