The United States Mint introduced last week its set of reverse proof $1 coins honoring innovations in New Hampshire, Virginia, New York, and North Carolina. The latest figures from the U.S. Mint show how the set performed in the early going.
Released Nov. 8 for $28, the four-coin set was easily the Mint’s best weekly seller with a debuting start of 38,056, representing 76.1% of the possible 50,000.
This year is the first where the Mint has offered all the year’s Innovation dollars within a single reverse proof set. Previous reverse proof dollars launched individually. The 2020-dated Innovation dollars celebrate innovation in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maryland, and South Carolina. Those reverse proofs logged starting sales of 24,737; 26,897; 27,243 and 27,339. (They are still available from the Mint, as are the 2019-dated coins, for $11.50 apiece.)

In its latest report, the U.S. Mint published sales data for 319 numismatic products. Ninety-four of them outperformed their prior weekly gains compared to 98 previously. Not counting the newest product to compare apples to apples, 3 increased by more than 1,000 units just like in the prior report.
In addition, 20 products saw their sales reduced compared to 22 previously. The reductions ranged from 1 to 688 units with the latter tagged to the 2021 Limited Edition Silver Proof Set.
Each of the Morgan and Peace dollar products also declined again. Their reductions were much more modest, ranging from 96 to 305.

Indeed, the sales figures for the 2021 Morgan and Peace Dollars continue to show reductions, which at this point I assume are returns to the mint for refunds since all these coins have been delivered by now. The Mint’s return policy is – “If for any reason within 7 days of receiving your product you are dissatisfied with your purchase, you can return the entire product for refund. Shipping charges will not be refunded for all returns.” Thus, the time window for returns should be closing next week, and with it, the sales reductions for these coins should cease. And here i sit….morgan and peace dollar “orders” dropping…..STILL waiting for my CC and O dollars shipped on 10/24-10/25. Received my innovation reverse set in about 5 days from ship date. Ive lost all faith in the mint right now to ever find and get me those 2 coins. I personally think its a case of sticky fingers or they just plain printed up the order and never shipped it. Very disheartening.

Sorry for the confusion.
For me, the Mint website lists the items as shipped on the 25th of October and provided a USPS tracking number. When researching that tracking number with the USPS website, it states that “Pre-Shipment Info Sent to USPS, USPS Awaiting Item.” When speaking to the Mint CS reps, they think that item is in transit. I’m pretty sure the label was printed and never affixed to a package and therefor my only recourse is a refund.
Oh well.

I’m also in the same situation. Pre-shipment info sent to USPS on 10/25. After the painstaking effort to order, I believe my order will never ship. The Mint passes the problem onto the USPS. I think all the Mint did was print out the label. I’m probably S.O.L! Soon, I’ll have to request a refund. Strange pattern here with these coins.
Follow up, just got this B.S. email from the Mint concerning my order:
We are aware your package is potentially showing no movement on the carrier website and the inability to track your package. We are working with our carriers to gain tracking visibility and get your order shipped. Please be patient as we work through this issue.

I too got it! I called the mint earlier this morning before the email arrived and the rep that I spoke with stated that all orders with a ship date from the Oct. 23-25 time frame have issues. She didn’t even have to look at my order # to know what items (Privy Mark Morgans) I was discussing. She said they are hoping to have them out in the next two weeks and that there are major issues at the distribution centers. I certainly hope all of you receive these privy marked Morgan dollars. The mintage numbers are falling, so you should have a better chance of receiving the coins you ordered. Fingers crossed they arrive before the Christmas mail season.

Matthew Holben, the U.S. Mint’s chief sales and marketing officer said 12,900 of the orders for Morgan and Peace dollars have been held up for delivery until the Mint determines if the orders are legitimate or are fraudulent attempts.

Domenic, I really want my coins, but the 30 day window for filing a claim will close soon. Unfortunately, I have to give up and file my CNR claim. I don’t want to lose the money I paid. I’ll have to fax my completed form in. Did yours show movement in usps to delivered? I dont see how they can hold us to the 30 day when, like mine, it says mint shipped it but usps only says pre shipment info sent, awaiting item from mint….especially if you have the email from mint acknowledging theres a problem with the ship dates.

No movement on my order. Identical to your’s. I have no faith in the Mint. I hate to lose $344.95 (4 coins + 4.95 shipping). They say please be patient. We have been! You may be right with your assumption. I’ll keep waiting and hope our orders actually begin shipping.

I totally agree and I would hope they are doing (b), but I am skeptical.
I personally feel we are the victims of insider sticky fingers {either at the mint or usps} or just inept processing where the order was printed and not affixed to box. id surely HOPE its not a case of boxes falling off some conveyor but i put nothing past USPS or the mint. The article that was mentioned in coinworld does bring up a whole other scenario. The mystery thickens…..

I received the same email, as mine was “ lost” somewhere between the mint and the USPS…I’m going to “assume” it’s now going to show up. My cc bill arrived today and was wondering if I should pay it or not, as the charge for these 3 coins was posted on the bill. With the Mint’s 30 day window also near, wasn’t sure what to do. Does anyone know if the 2021 Peace Silver Dollar is officially a “High Relief” coin? The Mint’s description of the coin does not specify it as having a high relief. The only reference I have seen of the 2021 Peace Dollar being high relief is on the NGC certified/graded encapsulated labels which state “High Relief.” However, the corresponding PCGS labels do not state High Relief.
Thanks for the additional information, Sir Kaiser. I had to do a double take of the image you attached of the American Liberty 2019 High Relief Silver Medal (definitely High Relief). Perhaps some of the 2021 Peace Dollar’s features rise up above the usual strike level just enough for NGC to classify it as “High Relief,” but not quite enough for PCGS of the US Mint to do so.
so, $11.50 x 4 is a bit more than $28, so the mint is actually giving people a discount versus prior years. something must be wrong, that’s not their style…
I liked the “extremely attractive packaging” from the $11.50 past year sets. But, the price is more affordable for all in the new format pkg.

Just a sidebar item to discuss here… In Baltimore, I traded two 2021 PEACE silver dollars for one 2021-CC-Morgan and one 2021-O-Morgan, even up. I didn’t see too many of the 2021 silver dollars at the bourse, and true to form, there are always grumpy old fartz scowling at the entire Morgan/Peace program, equally matched by delighted buyers lucky enough to purchase the full 6-set.
