The latest United States Mint sales figures show some sharp drops for 2021 Morgan Silver Dollars. The privy-marked dollars led declines with the ‘CC’ falling 4,796 to 165,293 and the ‘O’ down 4,792 to 165,491. Each has a product limit of 175,000.
The pair of coins were the earliest released among the centennial issues, launching May 24, and most susceptible to problems resulting from orders with credit cards that had expired or changed delivery addresses as no Morgan dollars actually started shipping until mid-October.
In those cases and for other reasons, the Mint sent emails to customers saying:
"Thank you for your interest in our Morgan/Peace Campaign. Unfortunately, we are not able to fulfill your order at this time due to issues with your method of payment. Please call our Customer Service Center to resolve the issue within 48 hours of the date of this email at 1-800-872-6468.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. If we do not hear from you within 48 hours, we will automatically cancel your order."
During certain periods this year, it was virtually impossible to actually reach a customer service representative by telephone. Some of the ‘CC’ and ‘O’ sales reductions likely resulted from customers who gave up on trying to get their original orders fulfilled.

Holy Graf Zeppelin! … These stunning sales reductions for the Privy Morgan Dollars are incredible, especially in light of the continuous, smaller steady weekly drops preceding this wipeout. The Mint had stated that 12,900 of the orders for Morgan and Peace dollars have been held up for delivery until the Mint determines if the orders are legitimate or are fraudulent attempts. Additionally, the Mint required another 15,000 customers to call the order fulfillment center when problems arose with expired credit cards or changed delivery addresses after orders were placed. So here are some of the results arising from a pre-sale… Read more »
Well gee…..maybe its because i just received an email stating they are refunding my damn 2 coins because its stuck in between preshipment info sent to usps awaiting item and them showing shipped. Such ineptitide on the mint with this release. I wonder how many of us are getting screwed with this…. Im getting a refund….. So i will have to pay more on open market now….. The mint really screwed me over. …. Can you tell my blood pressure has risen over this! ARGH.
Same exact scenario here. I dedicated time to sit and jump on this. I dedicated time to each morgan/peace dollar release after this. Now I have 4 of the 6. Having received the exact same email as you, my collection is incomplete after receiving a confirmation email that my order was successful. Huge waste of time and effort.
With all due respect STOP THE DAMN WHINING AND TELL THE POST OFFICE TO PUT A TRACE ON IT = PROBLEM WILL SOLVE ITSELF
If the USPS records show that the info was sent but they haven’t received the package yet then the USPS can’t do anything to “trace” it. They can’t search in their system for something that they are yet to receive and asking them to trace it isn’t going to solve the problem. If the mint had actually tendered the package then there likely would be at least some subsequent scans if the package moved onwards any at all. It is very likely that the mint didn’t actually hand the package over. The mint sends “shipped” notices sometimes days in advance… Read more »
Logic has no place in NONSENZA.
I have been in the mail order business for 5 decades and your so full of shit you stink are you one of FViia’s alternate personalities.
SENZA –
The Mint has been in the mail order business since the postal service began (thanks to Benjamin Franklin!).
NumisdudeTX
Hey Seth, amazing point I’m sure most US Mint customers would not even consider them a mail order company since they don’t resemble one in any way
Its a catch 22 essentially
I am in the same boat with the CC and O privy mark coins. I was wondering when this issue in shipping would start to be talked about. The Mint has told me I needed to wait four weeks before starting their refund process. I suspect many people who have not received their coins are now getting refunds, and that is why we are seeing so many “returns”, in spite of what this article says. The real question is what happened to all these coins? I see from the comments many of you have the same order status as me… Read more »
Yesterday (November 3rd 2022) I got a package in the mail with my four Morgans, 2 cc and 2 o privy marked coins. The packing slip showed it shipped October 21st 2021. When you clicked the tracking link last year it showed they never shipped. The mint refunded my credit card and I too thought about going on the open market but never did. Now I’m waiting to see if they rebuild my credit card. It was like Christmas in November yesterday!
So maybe a chance for me to purchase a Morgan CC?! Had mine taken out of my shopping cart while trying to purchase earlier this year.
Activated the “remind me” immediately after that sellout and go back every so often to activate again but have never been notified of coin availability.
Happy Thanksgiving All – gobble gobble.
I seriously doubt the mint tried to reach out to anyone!!! I notified the mint immediately when my order for the CC and O varieties were shutdown as my credit card was being verified. I received an excuse letter, later changed to other excuses, BUT never a notification that I could buy these coins.
Hey Jay – Kaiser it’s all about the effort, I have an 11 year old computer with windows vista running extra slow and low on memory but I got everyone of the coins I wanted because I put in the effort. If you bookmark the coins on your favorites bar and check back daily or half as much as you post and whine on this blog you would get a coin – there are people getting these coins everyday and it’s because they put in the effort. This is not the only coin blog – network a little bit –… Read more »
Could not have said it better. Thank you
Senza.
I concur with you exactly, my wife and I both put in and received all coins. It took time and patients but it paid off in the log run.
Were there problems of course, after all it’s the Mint we’re dealing with here. I’ve been reading for months now from all who had or still having problems getting their coins, for that I can sympathize but after 40 years of orders from the Mint I’ve learned a thing or two along this very annoying journey.
That’s why I tried one more time to order my one set of reverse proof ASEs and got my order through on November 4th. I received my beautiful coins on November 12th. Go figure!
The sales numbers declining on the “O” and “CC” privy mark coins really is probably mostly due to the reason that the Mint has given. It is certainly believable that the sales numbers are dropping not from cancelled orders but from the credit cards failing for one reason or another. They reason I say this is because currently the most expensive coin on ebay is the “CC” privy mark coin. People wouldn’t cancel orders for the most profitable coin! I’m rightly mad at the way the Mint handles things but they are likely being truthful about the charges not being… Read more »
For someone that has not purchased any of these coins, the Kaiser sure likes to go on and on, so: https://youtu.be/kcXWz-CTn08
I won’t get into my financial holdings but I’m far from living dangerously. It seems like that when someone has a differing opinion you want to throw insults. You don’t have things figured out as much as you think and would have others believe.
Hello Rodney Moore, I don’t think Kaiser Wilhelm was meaning to (or did) throw insults. I would say unintentional insensitivity or ignorance, but neither of those are at the level of insults. Insults often lead to offense. Being offended easily leads to conflict. Insensitive or ignorant comments/actions all too often leads to an offensive reaction in someone when they should only lead to an education, perhaps for all sides. I would not have replied to you at all if you would have left your last sentence out, which I think you did mean to be an insult but was just… Read more »
Wow Jeff, that was quite a tome. Not to worry…
Sir Kaiser Rules. Viva la Kaiser!
I’m sure the Kaiser is singing Shoulda, Woulda, Coulda now.
Fviia and Rich, Thank you for commenting, because it makes me think you took the time to read my post. I hope it made you think. If anyone is interested I saw an article today (Nov. 30th) on a website (mediapost.com) somewhat related to this subject. It is titled “The Complexities Of Understanding Each Other by Gord Hotchkiss “. The site is for professionals in the digital advertising industry. I am not that, but I did own a stock in that industry for 7 years which made me think it would be a good idea to keep tabs on what the professionals… Read more »
Nice to see all you “WHINING” “OLD LADIES” are Baaaaaaack !!!!!
HA! HA! HA!
sam Tweedy is bbback!!! As our little yellow canary in a coal mine, thanks for warning us, by your growing distress, that the levels of toxic gases emanating from our comments were rising too high.
Morgan Silver Dollars Retreat, well anyone else miss out? I missed out on the “P” mint Morgan and the Peace Dollar. Well I put in email and on phone to notify me if they became available. But no notification that they were available for purchase. So what gives?
Kaiser —
This note has nothing to do with the one I am replying to you on. But given the fact I don’t have your personal eMail address but I’m hoping you may have some sort of auto-reminder on those that reply to your notes…. So I’m posting it here for the WOLVES.
I just discovered that the 2021 ASE Type 2 Uncirculated Dollar 21EGN is now available for purchase.
So jump on it my friends !!! FOOD FIGHT.
— Mike
Kaiser — I knew there was some hidden reason why I like you. And I finally discovered it re your Flip Phone. Guess what? Me too. Literally ALL of my friends don’t understand why a Rocket Scientist (yes, I actually am one by formal training) like me would prefer a Flip Phone over a “smart phone”. So how “smart” is having to buy a new smart phone every year or two … or having cracked more of their screens … or paying obnoxious monthly data charges … or using them more as a camera than what it was originally intended,… Read more »
Rich —
Many Thanks to you and Kaiser for the kind words. I would rather be lucky than good. And this catch was one of my strokes of luck.
On the other hand HOW and WHERE did you find the obscure Mint page that showed exactly how many were still available?
Sounds like you are the good one that balances the scale on me being lucky.
— Mike
Mike, you’re welcome. To answer your question of HOW and WHERE, here is a re-, re-posting of the instructions originally provided by Daniel (my brother) verbatim from one of his earlier posts:
“Right click the product page and click “view source code” or whatever your browser says along those lines. Then CTRL +F and type in “data-available” (without quotes) and the number to the right of it is the quantity remaining.”
Rich —
Nothing quite like giving someone who was qualified to analyze the stresses on the B-1 swing wing supersonic bomber a taste of humility ….
Neat trick. But when I did it a few moments ago it gave me a “0.0” in that field. Whoops! Sneaky computer. I just did it again and it yielded 1134. !!! (12:13PM Pacific Time 11/28) Wow. Like I said, Neat Trick !!
But in all due respect I said I could “analyze” the engineering problem … not actually build the bomber.
Thanks for sharing this gem.
— Mike
Hello Kaiser Wilhelm,
You might have already heard of this company because they appear on Pawn Stars, but I have found International Military Antiques (IMA) has an interesting website with items from many nations at all price ranges. I do not think they have any British Bofors Gun’s for sale but I did just see a 19th century 9 pounder ship’s cannon for sale at the bargain price (haha) of just under $15000.
Kaiser —
I couldn’t help but think about Crocodile Dundee when I saw this rather well-endowed hand gun. Remember when Dundee was about to be robbed at knife point? And as the would-be robber said “see my knife?” … And then The Croc said “Thasss not a Knife” while he pulled out his and said “THASSSSS a KNIFE!”
Heaven help the person on the receiving end of your antiquated, but extremely well-endowed, hardware! It makes my 357 seem so pathetic ….
— Mike
Says 0.0 for all privy marked coins. I’m hoping for some more Peace dollars though. I really like mine and wished I’d ordered the limit. Otherwise I’m happy. 🙂
Double Plus Good!
Hey Kaiser —
I got my 2021 Uncirc ASE Type 2 over the weekend and was blown away at how well struck it was and how crisp the Eagle’s feathers were. And then I started looking at it from another perspective. Is it Burnished? It doesn’t actually look like your typical Uncirculated buck.
Maybe you or Senza or one of the other brainiacs on this site can jump in and educate me.
— Mike
I picked up a bullion ASE type II recently, and it very much looks like “an ounce of silver with seemingly less depth to the American Eagle design” imprinted on it – just to set it apart. My UNC Peace and Morgans are shinier, the bullion ASE is duller – like mass-produced. IMO, I dont think you’d be “guessing” if it was not UNC. Maybe its a bit duller than normal, but I doubt its burnished, as they are not sold directly from the mint either (I dont believe). But I dont own any UNC ASEs, so whadda I know??… Read more »
Well, I saw the other reply in another topic … so, nevemind.
Kaiser —
They just opened up orders again for the CC and O Dollars. I seem to recall you didn’t order them on the first go-round. So I thought you might to act asap.
Fyi,there appear to be a bit over 2,000 of each available as I type this note (12/14 @ 11:30AM Pacific Time).
— Mike
Gah – I got an email about these at 2pm (eastern). I was at lunch, missed ’em. Too bad.
Lucky to us who are real collectors and want these Morgans in our collections. As long as they don’t drop below the price we bought them for, lower mintages may be good for us in the long term.
