Last week, the United States Mint released rolls and bags of 2022 Dr. Sally Ride quarters and the 2022 National Purple Heart Hall of Honor Colorized Silver Dollar. Each product sold out.
Released March 22, Dr. Sally Ride quarters are the second issue from the U.S. Mint’s four-year series of American Women quarter dollars. They appeared available for order on their release, but only for a minute or two. All but a few of the quarter products had already been claimed earlier in enrollments. Mint stats show a combined 1,755,480 quarters sold.
The scenario played out almost the same for rolls and bags of Maya Angelou quarters, the first issue from the quarters program. Debut sales had their total at 1,753,280 quarters. It has since been adjusted to 1,751,040.
Released March 24, the 25,000-limited 2022 Purple Heart Colorized Silver Dollar lasted a smidgen over 24 hours before selling out. Mint stats place the total at 24,995 coins.

The 2022 Purple Heart Colorized Silver Dollar 24-hour sell out (24,995 sold out of 25,000) and the 2022 Negro Leagues Baseball Privy Proof Silver Dollar 24-hour sell out (19,996 sold out of 20,000) demonstrated that those two limited, unique coins were the highest demand, most popular and sought after coins of their respective commemorative program product options.
Sir Kaiser, muchas gracias. Your astute observations on the 2022 Commemorative Uncirculated Silver Dollars are noteworthy. The lowest mintage Modern Commemorative Uncirculated Silver Dollar (1983-2021) is the 2021 National Law Enforcement Uncirculated Silver Dollar with final mintage = 9,422. Currently, the 2022 National Purple Heart Uncirculated Silver Dollar mintage/sales = 9,529 and the 2022 Negro Leagues Baseball Uncirculated Silver Dollar mintage/sales = 6,831. The lowest mintage Modern Commemorative Proof Silver Dollar (1983-2022) is the 2022 Negro Leagues Baseball Proof Privy Silver Dollar with mintage = 19,996. It beat out the prior lowest mintage Commemorative Proof Silver Dollar, 1983-2021, the 2017… Read more »
That’s a big 10-4 Good Buddy!
Why aren’t they telling the public this sold via enrollments
So, only those with enrollment will be able to buy any of this year’s ASEs. I see where this is going.
Good question, SENZA, I was wondering the same thing a couple of days ago when I posted this comment in reply to Sir Kaiser: Sir Kaiser, speaking of the next Fiasco, what are your thoughts on the April 14th release of the 2022-W ASE Proof. Not considering the fulfillment of the enrollment orders, how do you think the live online ordering will go for those ASE Proofs in light of the fact that they were sold out through enrollment orders last week according to the Mint? I wonder what the Mint has is store for those customers trying to place… Read more »
Whoa my brain hurts, thanks for the recap Rich, but I’m only firing on 2 Brain Cells and when you and Kaiser break into those intellectual rants I’m soon lost and confused – but I think I get it now……..
Who gets Bullion and Who gets Proofs is still a fuzzy area for me – maybe my question is the answer I’m just not sure
Maybe if you Bang Your Head…

Oohhh that much information hurts my head but Lucy is yowza

American Eagle Silver Coin Enrollments are Closed The 2022 American Eagle Silver One Ounce Proof Coin (W), the American Eagle Silver One Ounce Proof Coin (S) and the American Eagle Silver One Ounce Uncirculated Coin (W) inventories have all been depleted. This marks the first time in U.S. Mint history that all American Eagle silver coins have been depleted through enrollments. During order processing and reconciliation, some units may become available, those units will be made available to customers via “Remind Me” notification. If you have not signed up for a “Remind Me” notification, please don’t hesitate to take this… Read more »
Still nearly 3,000 of these unsold
Congrats First On Thread – you can’t wait around for the old timers every day – it’s yours today so take it………………………………..Imagine your in the Nudie Bar and soft projectiles are beating against your face and suddenly you get a break and that Ice Cold One is within reach Oh Yeah!
Thanks, SENZA, that hit me like a graphic wedge!
Kaiser,
I concur with your “humble yet carefully considered opinion”.
The 100 year thing as with the gold Mercury, Standing and Walking liberty in 2016 and the 2 Silver dollars last year was what made them special.
Apologies for trying to track threads down. I just use a phone & imo, the gui needs overhauled. I honestly don’t remember, but think the NLB privy sold out b4 24 hrs? Can’t say for sure. I def know I said wouldn’t be hard to get the colorized purple heart coin. & as far as I can tell, if ya struck within 25hrs, no one on here had a prob. I again apologize because this format makes it hard for me to see older posts. But, someone replied to me somewhere that if the colorized purple heart had a privy,… Read more »
Yeah Phil, your in the right ballpark. BTW, it was Major D who theorized “if the colorized purple heart only had a privy…”
I think the thing about the Morgan and Peace silver dollars is “Give them back, give them back.” The lower the mintage the higher the value. Their loss is our gain.
Another factor related to mintages and sales generally trending downward in the Mint’s increased pricing which is usually trending upward.
I was doing Inventory today and noticed that US Mint coinage such as Native American and American Innovation which can have unsold items dating back as far as 2017 are now showing “Sold Out” in many instances and I would speculate it appears the US Mint is doing some house cleaning.
I too noticed that the Mint is doing some house cleaning on their inventory.
The CC and O privy mark coins, which still had some possible available inventory based on sales reports, are showing “Sold Out.”
Oh well…I guess I will have to deal with the CC and O Morgans that I already received. Thought maybe I could get some more to trade for the D and S that I missed out on.
I collect “Denver” everything so I too missed out on some of the others but managed to get the Denver and Peace Dollars which were my priorities. I noticed some desperate flippers trying to unload Morgans in the $200.00 range on Feebay but there are some things I just won’t even consider buying on Feebay.
Major D, your comment, “I enjoy coin collecting but still want my purchases to gain in value- and I’m speculating that we’re living in the glory days right now,” keeps ricocheting in my head. As we build our legacy over time, the glory days are always behind us in the past. Some day in the future when we look back, the most glorious days will be the most distant ones. For illustration, consider the purchase of the 2006-W $50 Gold American Buffalo Proof (with mintage = 246,267) for price = $800 15 years ago in 2006. Compare that to the… Read more »
Sir Kaiser, your words ring true, and may your legacy live on!
Well stated Kaiser.
Collecting is definitely a labor of love, something I do, and did in my youth, for the sheer enjoyment of it.
The only time I hoped for “value appreciation” was when I was forced to sell all my gold coins and a significant part of my silver coins and sets for financial reasons.
Just checked, there is no HOL limit for the Proof W ASE and it’s closed Enrollment. On April 14th, the day of release, they might last 15 minutes.
Major D, you might have just cracked the nut in this case. After you posted that the data-available = 267,609, I thought, ah-ha, if the Mint started with product limit = 300,000, then the 10% for the Big Guys (the 18 dealers advance purchases) 30,000 subtracted from 300,000 would leave 270,000, or approximately 267,600. However, forget all that because I just checked the Mint product page and it is now displaying data-available = 366,750. So what gives? If the Mint has already sold around 300,000 through Enrollment Program orders and now there is this 366,750 plus coins, is the total… Read more »
Rich
The total of 366.750
Includes all the enrollments and there’s another 30,000 which is for the congratulations set
,so
There’s not much left to sell on April 14
Mord, thanks for the clarification and assessment. Currently the Mint page for the 2022 Congratulations Set displays data-available = 24,750 (product limit = 30,000) and the page for the 2022-W ASE Proof displays data-available = 366,750 (product limit = none).
Kaiser
Looks like all ASE are sold via Enrollments. Only scraps will be available on all three release dates. Perhaps web page failures or proving you are human or bot trafficking could still take you 15 minutes to get to these scraps.
Kaiser
They said the Sally Ride coins were all sold through enrollments. But on the day of release they had some available for 5 mins. I think there will be a few ASE available on the 14th.
All
I just heard MM say they only minted 300K Proof ASE-W. Looks like 2022 is going to be a good collectors year if you can get one. Good Luck!!!
there are certainly multiple factors going on, but it appears to me that a big one is the lack of staff at the san francisco mint to make sufficient product for demand. government wages are fixed and don’t go up easily, so the SF mint must be having a hard time keeping people on the job with other employers nearby ready to hire for more money. the lower quantity may also explain the higher prices, as the mint is supposed to run their operations ‘revenue neutral’ like USPS, meaning that selling overpriced mint products is necessary to make up for… Read more »
I noted some research I’ve done on these “factors” in another thread but to save you time let me reiterate: I’ve uncovered something more disturbing than farts in a Jar. My research on the Morgan Silver Dollar cancellations took me down some dark paths and ended in a bitter find; There in fact, is no “Silver Shortage” rather the miners who feed the US Mint’s Silver addiction refused to be fleeced by the Mint and turnover said Silver for pennies on the dollar while all the while knowing the US Mint is charging us Dollars on the Pennies. So, US… Read more »
That invention was stolen from me Damn it………………………….. I have a better version and I still have another one nobody has thought of
ah but look at which interests have lobbyists – all of those other factors have expensive lobbyists that push legislators who then call up the mint director to say ‘find a way to do X for my constituent waving a big check in my face’, AFAIK there is no collector community lobbyist (and if there is, they don’t have large bank accounts to spend on political contributions). so guess who gets stuck with the bulk of any cost increases? we moan and groan about mint product price increases, and a few may throw in the towel and not buy it,… Read more »
