Kaiser — That “sabbatical” of yours certainly mellowed you out. I have never seen you so calmly analytical! The Mint’s life-blood is collectors such as us. They know that whatever they charge us we’ll pay it because we are committed to our collections. We’re like dog owners who overlook the messes they’ve made. I’ve never sold a coin I’ve collected yet. (And I think that describes you too.) I’m leaving that for my inheritors to do. But thanks for reminding me to apply some level of judgement to the level of (undeserved) love I $end the Mint. That said, it… Read more »

Heeerrre’s Kaiser!
The US Mint sales figures and mintage/product limits for the expensive one ounce American Palladium and Gold Eagles are showing an interesting divergence this year. Last week on June 22, Mike Unser made this curious observation: “the 2022-W $50 Uncirculated American Gold Eagle launched on June 16 for $2,670 and registered four-day sales of 5,326. Its mintage is 9,000 coins. Interestingly, Mint data shows less than 460 are available as of this writing.” This caused me to do a little digging and here is what I discovered – The 2022-W $50 Uncirculated (Burnished) American Gold Eagle final mintage will be approximately… Read more »

I’m glad the stent was in-fact life-saving or I may have missed out on all your humor, thoughtful comments and engaging conversation-
I fear that illustration is much healthier than my actual inner anatomy and all by my own hands
Bravo much agreed and the road ahead says we as collector’s of US Mint products may never make a profit perhaps even if that Bankers prediction of $2500.00 Gold comes to fruition – it still won’t do us any good………
Rich, even at these low mintages for the burnished AGE I don’t see much of an increase in value on the secondary market. Are these coins going to become similar to the first spouse gold coins? I hope not. Maybe I am missing something.
Precious metals are taking a big dive recently. I wonder if this is the calm before the storm. Capital flowing to the US making the dollar strong /commodities weak. It won’t last forever. Could be a great buying opportunity right now. Or maybe even better in a few months.
EC Guru, your comments and speculation appear to be correct. These one ounce burnished AGE coins have much lower mintages than the one ounce proof AGEs, yet their increase in values in the secondary market are similar to the proof AGE coins, unlike the first spouse gold coins which are in a market class of their own and trend in value more like the commemorative gold coins. It’s hard to say what may happen with prices and values in the near term. However, in the long term you will most likely always make a profit. Anyone who purchased gold coins… Read more »
Received silver proof set today.
My one comment is on the nickel. The top of the B on Pluribus appears to be a bit over polished so it almost doesn’t show
I got one of these off Scamazon for about $50 Bucks – it’s an amazing little toy
Kaiser, I do a real quick look with a magnifying glass. The question of course will be whether all the silver proofs are that way, or just one die. You can tell the difference between the silver nickel and the regular proof nickel.
