Precious metals posted gains in their kick off to the new trading week on Monday. Their advances ranged from 0.4% for gold to 3% for platinum.
Gold for August delivery rose $6.60 to settle at $1,710.20 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange.
"Bullish outside market that see the U.S. dollar index sharply lower and crude oil prices solidly higher are helping to lift the precious metals markets to start the trading week. A lack of fresh, markets-moving economic or geopolitical news early this week has metals traders looking at the outside markets for direction," Jim Wyckoff, a senior analyst at Kitco Inc, said in a daily research note.
Gold futures traded between $1,704.40 and $1,722. They fell 2.2% last week, for their fifth straight weekly loss, and ended Friday at their lowest price since March 30, 2021.
Silver for September delivery moved up 24.6 cents, or 1.3%, to end at $18.84 an ounce. Silver futures ranged from $18.58 to $18.95. They lost 3.3% last week. On Thursday, silver logged its weakest finish settlement since July 1, 2020.
In other precious metals prices on Monday:
-
October platinum added $25.10 to $856 an ounce, trading between $830.70 and $863.70. On Thursday, platinum posted its weakest finish since June 26, 2020.
- Palladium for September delivery gained $19.70, or 1.1%, to $1,849.10 an ounce, ranging from $1,835 to $1,892.50.

… as we ride the time machine
Don’t forget a lighter, just in case.
Talk about being way ahead of your time
I’m glad you Gold hoarders got some good Newz today
Sir Kaiser, gold is trying to find a hard bottom.
Seen this on Feebay today
Senza,
This is a good example of why we should be teaching financlal literacy in school instead of ‘how can I transition to the thing I really want to be.’ This country just gets dumber every day and the Chinese and their kids are just sitting back and laughing, while learning coding, math sciences and real skills. I’ve got to go practise my Mandarin.
Right On! Larry,
And just when we thought it couldn’t get any worse Brandon is pushing this agenda again
When the Elite created Stocktwits and Robinhood to fleece 5th graders out of their lunch money we just took another turn for the worse – some financial education that was –

Nowadays
Kaiser, Have you seen the Math and Reading skills for Baltimore? More than 75% test at elementary level in math and reading. These are high school students. Most have never even heard of ‘cursive’ writing.I’m not implying all schools are failing or no students are learning, but with the money that we shell out for education, the results should be much better.I’m not even going to touch the ‘speak’ component of your post.Nope.
The High School I went to was so bad they had to create a special (EASY) math class called “Senior Math” which was a guaranteed “PASS” otherwise over 80% of every Senior class would not have been allowed to Graduate.
Mine must be worth a mint (no pun intended). : P
Maybe if the penny and the dollar were Silver – collector’s would have an easier time thinking this is actually a Silver Set
Damn, your right – I missed that one – those cheap F’s
If you want all silver (or almost all silver), try the Canadian silver set. I believe only the dollar and two dollar are not silver, if I’m not wrong.
Damn it Antonio, a Silver Set should be a Silver Set
Look at this Silver Beauty
I happened to see Mezack selling a 2019 silver set for $79.95. It has as much silver in it as this set but costs $25 less. Isn’t a woman running the mint these days…she wouldn’t be ripping us off, would she?
Good old Mezack – there is a Woman puppet for Brandon’s agenda but I still believe BlackRock aka Blackstone and NGC run the US Mint
I was watching a Youtube coin blog today, and all those sad suckers in the same predicament as us – were speculating that if the Mint didn’t at least make a statement and give a tentative date that something more sinister is at play.
I like how they say my CPH shipped on a “Sunday” and today tracking says USPS has not received the package yet
I’m in the same boat
with Status Pre-Shipment Info Sent to USPS, USPS Awaiting Item July 18, 2022
One of these days the US Mint will realize they are a Mail Order Company Too – wait no they won’t ……………………But you will enjoy the Ride
When I bought my SENZA in 1991 it had a 454 Magnum 365 HP but the shady dealer didn’t tell me that the new model was coming in with the 500 Magnum – however I did improvise.
We may have to
I received my 2022 mint set yesterday. Just sayin’.
Damn it man post the real photo – I want to see it
And we must keep it Real
U.S. Marine Corps 2.5 Ounce Silver Medal
My Medal still has not shipped
Stock Market is Surging – are we in the wrong game
Ah yes.
Good Point,
Every dollar I put in the shoe box under my bed is still there – I can’t say the same about every investment I made.
How many of you bought Microsoft, Crapple, Tesla or Scamazon stock years before any of them ever went up – time can be cruel and so can stock manipulation.
SENZA and Major D, Rather than cherry picking individual stocks for comparisons (since some are all-time winners and some are all-time losers), consider the composite stock indices for this 21 year comparative analysis versus Gold over the period from the December, 2000 to December, 2021: DJIA: 2000 = 10,000, 2021 = 35,500, gain = 3.6 times S&P500: 2000 = 1,145, 2021 = 4,700, gain = 4.1 times NASDAQ: 2000 = 2,500, 2021 = 15,200, gain = 6.1 times Gold: 2000 = $270, 2021 = $1,800, gain = 6.7 times Footnote: At today’s close – DJIA = 31,827; S&P500 = 3,936;… Read more »
Great data as always Rich, So why the hell are we so depressed – Wait I just remembered – because the mint charged us 3 times the actual cost of the shiny stuff and we can never make that up. As a seasoned trader, I can tell you that the individual stocks in those indices did not perform nearly as well as those indices numbers and it was difficult to impossible for investors to match those numbers in their 401k’s etc. It is however, another argument in favor of Gold. There has always been a separation of reality between major… Read more »
