The United States Mint kicked off sales last week of two products for collectors, the 2022 Uncirculated Coin Set, or "2022 Mint Set," for $25.25 and the U.S. Marine Corps 2.5 Ounce Silver Medal for $160.
Released July 12, the annually issued set of uncirculated coins garnered six-day opening sales of 164,710. That easily made it the U.S. Mint’s top weekly seller.
The start was the second best among sets released in the last decade, falling right behind the one from 2020. The 2020 Mint Set had a built-in advantage as its production run was limited 213,000 (due to the effects of COVID-19 at Mint manufacturing facilities), which instantly made it the rarest since 1959 when 187,000 sets sold. This year’s set has a product limit of 250,000.

The decline in sales (cancellations and returns) for the 2022-W $1 American Silver Eagle Uncirculated (Burnished) of -3,391 coins (-2.21%) is a bit surprising, even in light of recent feEBay sales reports from SENZA regarding this coin.
I think I’m in a different time zone – this thread is so confusing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HTTAPCUtbc8
.
Sir Kaiser,
I think I’m really out there – I didn’t see any posts from you on this thread last night and now I see several
The benefits of a 14 year old computer on the modern Internet
Good deduction
My privates seem to be getting censored to I’m easing off
That’s a shame because your privates were first class!
Major D, its the latter. Just checked Mint page and they are back in stock for sale with data-available = 4,718 at 2pm ET, 7/21/2022.
And two sales of the 2021 Reverse Proof Two Coin ASE set that I’m still not being notified by Mint to purchase 🙁
Yes, need to figure out how to leverage that too.
Chances are
The Mint will let us buy more than one set?
Everything comes in two’s Antonio
Right On
I noticed the Censor man is back in town
I never got one and routinely click remind me on item Antonio.
Looks like we’re bad company for our friends at the Mint Major D 🙁
The people who get those are the ones who literally check the US Mint website daily – morning, noon and night
OOP’s did I just reveal I have no life https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NPX48NpSRvo
I think you’re still supposed to get the notice and then it’s first-come-first-served Kaiser?
But my rant Kaiser is that I never have gotten the notice from the Mint that it’s available to purchase – even though I’ve routinely hit “remind me” to be notified.
I have my mint sent and it joins my proof set and proof silver AWQs. I feel like I’ve had a satisfying meal and I can sit back and relax.
Don’t forget desert
I actually had to cut back – it was just too good to be true
Still selling at a loss – they made too damn many
As I have mentioned, I consider the “Uncirculated” US Mint ASE to be bullion – it just has that US Mint surcharge for those willing to pay it.
Add 12.9% feebay fees + sellers are expected to provide free shipping – the only variable is what the dealers wholesale price is which I don’t know
And if this isn’t a dealer – like I said before can’t compete with stupid
And it has the Dubya “W” mint mark with a “burnished” Special Strike.
Both chopped at W and burnished is the same as my imaginary girlfriend – neither exist
I think PCGS is being sued and the Plaintiff is demanding they prove “Burnished” exists –
No arguments with any of your scenarios, I was just under the impression we were exclusively discussing the 2022 uncirculated ASE. Since I consider uncirculated and bullion to be no different: but you do, I found an uncirculated to make my point. I agree with any negative point you make about Feebay but it’s always a good indicator of what’s going on with US Mint products and the image I presented proves one point I have made repeatedly; that these coins are so over-priced and over-produced that a flipper can’t break even in the secondary market. I won’t even venture… Read more »
I used to buy bullion ASE’s (uncirculated) as a way to collect silver. I have many 20 coin tubes in my safe from the 90’s and early 2000’s that I paid $199 – $225 for. In the late 90’s, Mega Coin Hawker Mike Mezack came up with a brilliant way to fleece a dumb populace by certifying bullion ASE’s and claiming that they were…wait for it…rare. Now. if you want to collect these coins as a value of silver you have to shell out $650/tube. You have to pay $15 over spot. No thanks. The bottom line is I don’t… Read more »
Larry, time was definitely on your side – now that’s the way to profit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JwYX52BP2Sk
Pink Floyd is definitely one of the all time greats! How did great music like that morph into rap? By the way, there’s nothing like holding a tube of ASE’s in your hand, excluding certain female body parts obviously!
I have a feeling somebody is thinking
Sir Kaiser, Excellent point in discerning the difference in the strike and finish of silver/gold Bullion coins (Business Strike) versus Uncirculated coins (Special Strike). The Uncirculated finish is described as having a burnished, matte, and/or satin finish. The other major point of clarification is the Uncirculated coins have the W mint mark.
Like my Grandfather used to say about beer brands “it’s all piss water – don’t pay extra for the fancy words” and the Bullion and Uncirculated are all piss water. Define “Special Strike” C’mon Man
Out in the real World one has a face value of $1 Buck and the other has a face value of $1 buck –
One Dollar……… and with the current affairs of so called precious metals you would be hard pressed to get that dollar – remember this
No arguments but I say the uncirculated are no better – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HqwvNmG651Q
Denial is not a River in Egypt and there is no justification to the prices we pay for US Mint Shiny – and picking on Bullion will not change that –
Don’t worry guys I watched a Youtube stacker video last night and the guy is convinced Silver will be worth $600 an ounce by years end –
P.S. Burnished is not a real thing
Senza,
Does anyone know who came up with the designation of ‘burnished?’ I see similarities to what the media does to the general populace. We hear ‘Russian collusion,Russian collusion, Russian collusion’ so many times that people blame every problem in their lives on Putin/Russia.I have to admit that even I have been calling the W Uncirculated ASE a ‘burnished’ coin.
Are you sure that guy thinks silver is going to $600 by years end. I’d think he’s nuts if he said it was going to $60 by years end.
A Dollar is a Dollar is a Dollar and that’s all she wrote………….. that 7 day return window is very important
Kaiser,
I never thought of them as ‘cheapo’ ASE’s. They are just silver coins that you could purchase for their silver value. A few years back, you could buy them for $1.99-$3.90 over spot/coin. For me, that was a reasonable way to accumulate some silver along with my other investment vehicles. Diversity is key to accumulating wealth in todays world.
My CPH was due today but is postponed in Atlanta, GA with a new due date of Friday.
Atlanta, is a bad HUB I have had Feebay packages held up 30 days or more at that USPS location during the Plandemic.
Had a package go missing – they dragged their feet and finally paid my insurance claim and 9 months later the package showed up in my mail box looking like it went thru a war zone.
once i had a package show up from USPS in a plastic bag containing all the remaining bits of the package they were able to find after it got run over by a tank apparently. another time i got a bag containing a heavily burnt letter. frankly it’s amazing they even bother figuring it out, maybe it’s just punishment they dole out to whoever messed up.
We must take our punishment – they destroyed a graded Morgan I bought years ago – even I was surprised at the amount of damage https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kQv8zNQX578
Hey, teacher, leave them kids alone
Shucks you guys are no fun https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7iNbnineUCI
Correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t see “burnished’ anywhere in the official description or specifications
.
You are correct, SENZA. The Mint’s description only says, “the American Eagle Silver Uncirculated Coins, struck at the West Point Mint, are collector versions of the official United States Mint American Eagle Silver Bullion Coins” and the finish is Uncirculated. The NGC labels state “Burnished Silver Eagle” and are graded MS, mint state. The PCGS labels state “Burnished Silver Eagle” and are graded SP, Special strike.
Thanks Rich,
If that’s what your data says then I believe it
Rich, some of the foreign mints use burnished for their minting designations / terminologies – Royal Mint (UK), Perth Mint (Australia) and I believe the Royal Canadian Mint too. Essentially those mints burnish coins means a bullion finish.
The US Mint Customer Service in plain english SUCKS
It’s one of those days https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sDpwWg7XwnI
.
Hang in there bro I sent a rescue team
