Annual sets — the clad 2022 Proof Set, the 2022 Mint Set, and the 2022 Silver Proof Set — ranked top three in weekly sales according to the latest data published by the United States Mint.
The 2022 Proof Set is a smidgen away from hurdling 300,000 in sales through the 116 days since its release. Its performance, so far, is lagging some behind last year’s set which surpassed sales of 309,000 during its first 115 days.
Meanwhile, the 2022 Mint Set rebounded by over 3,000 after dropping by nearly 6,500 a week earlier. On Monday, the U.S. Mint stated on Facebook and Twitter that the set’s new package design unintentionally created "an illusion" of holding damaged coins. (The Mint’s Facebook post on this topic has since disappeared.) It’ll be interesting to see the direction of the set’s sales further down the road.
Elsewhere, the individually sold 2022-W Uncirculated Silver Eagle was the Mint’s fourth best seller of the week, rising 1,194 to 152,121. The coin has a capped mintage of 160,000, which suggests it will eventually sell out.

>> The coin has a capped mintage of 160,000, which suggests it will eventually sell out.
well, until of course 50,000 are returned after that point.
Based on the reported sales figures, mintage = 191,281 (counting the 39,160 coins sold in the Bulk 40 of 979) with data-available currently showing 1,700 left for sale. Thus, potential individual sales could total 153,821, under the cap of 160,000, with a potential grand total of about 193,000 (i.e., 192,981)
I am glad you found that information useful, Major D, so I’ve updated the list of the 20 lowest mintage Silver American Eagle Proof/Uncirculated Coins (1986-2021): 2019-S Enhanced Reverse Proof = 29,909 1995-W Proof = 30,102 2020-W V75 Privy Proof = 74,709 2011-P Reverse Proof = 99,882 2011-S Uncirculated = 99,882 2019-W Enhanced Reverse Proof = 109,675 2017-S Proof = 123,799 2021-W Type 1 Reverse Proof = 123,926 2021-S Type 2 Reverse Proof 123,926 2018-W Uncirculated = 138,947 2019-W Uncirculated = 141,030 2020-W Uncirculated = 154,861 2017-W Uncirculated = 176,739 2013-W Uncirculated = 178,941 2021-W Type 2 Uncirculated = 185,892… Read more »
Thanks for posting all those #’s Rich. The only other ASE missing on the list, is the 2008/7 reverse. Not sure if an error coin counts in the discussion above but thought I would bring up the topic.
Yes EC Guru, thanks for mentioning the 2008-W Uncirculated American Silver Eagle Reverse of 2007 variety. It has a mintage = 46,318 and could be considered as the 3rd lowest mintage Silver American Eagle.
Indeed Major D and Sir Kaiser, there were no Mint bulk sales of the Uncirculated Silver American Eagles before 2019. 2019 was the first year for Bulk 40 sales of the Uncirculated Silver Eagles.
I mean, depending on the year and mintage, I’ve bought some ASEs for less than they were sold by the mint. It just depends year over year.
I’ll wait a few years, if the value of silver falls, we’ll be able to buy uncirculated ASEs for less than sold by the Mint. I may start doing that starting next year.
And the Limited Edition Silver Proof Set limited to 50,000 unless they decide to add 250,000 more……………………………………….
What a relief. That does effect the total mintage and therefore the value though. 🙁
Those numbers are total bullshit – here is something real to sink your teeth into https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rzd0mLf366I
And I would rather have one of these
.
Referring to the Mint numbers not your numbers – Christmas is not canceled
I had to bookmark and subscribe. Thanks SENZA!
I feel 5 Lbs. heavier already
Crab cakes, I like crab cakes. Oh, this isn’t about crab cakes? Nevermind.
It’s about
New Enrollments
I guess I am not gone totally. Just wanted to make sure you all know the Morgan & Peace dollars have MS & Proof Enrollments open. Also open for all ASE too.
Hi Allan, nice to hear from you again and know that you’re not totally gone. Those enrollments for the 2023 Morgan and Peace Silver Dollars will probably be open for quite some time as the product mintage limits are relatively high, i.e., 400,000 for the proofs, 275,000 for the uncirculated, and 250,000 for the reverse proof sets.
The US Mint is destined to fail – the price of Silver is $20.00 ish and going much lower and it does not matter what kind of scratch is on that Silver – The face value is $1.00 on all of them and you couldn’t find one Bank, Grocery Store or Gas Station on the face of the earth that would give you one dollar credit for that shiny garbage the US Mint is pumping out. I am glad that Kaisers’ multiple personalities have managed to get along for one day – I doubt it will last much longer –… Read more »
Will the real Sir Kaiser Wilhelm please stand up!
There’s that defect AGAIN that I keep pointing out – Bravo you didn’t even make it thru a day – I gave you too much credit.
Watch out for the bright flashing lights and loud invisible noise – it’s terrifying in your condition-
If you go back enough threads you can just talk to yourself and even have the last word – maybe
He was not talking to you, NONSENZA (it made me laugh when I saw someone call you that months ago. Was it morgan? You have to admit that was a good one, huh). He was talking to Rich.
SENZA,
You keep accusing people of having multiple personalities because you have none.
Now let me check some more new threads to see you yet again bringing up your “multiple personalities” spiel for no reason. Will I find more? Your first two paragraphs here were on topic, but you just could not let it go, could you? Insult for insult, that is my deal for you. Are you having fun yet?
Today I drafted information for my elected representatives to launch an investigation into the corruption and incompetence at the US Mint as well as it’s dealers and the so-called graders.
I wonder if airlines offer a multiple personality discount!
Senza, the first part is on subject, but you just could not make it farther than that, huh? Are you here for coins, or insults? Are you having fun, yet?
.
SENZA, try following your own advice. It is pretty bad when you do not even listen to yourself. Next time, say it in front of a mirror.
Oh my it’s “NEW” in shiny Green tabs even though it’s not new and nobody wants this garbage
There was a time when most of the comments on this site were useful, helpful, interesting and on point. Some would add to the subject and once in a while even a correction or two. I used to enjoy reading all the comments. But just like other things in life, they change. Or maybe it’s just me? Nowadays some of the comments don’t make sense or have nothing to do with the article or even our hobby. Like who cares who’s first to comment? And what’s with all the images? Why? Sometimes it seems like one is trying to out… Read more »
Nice post, Joera! It has changed, lets see if it can be changed back. I do not mind going off topic occasionally (could you see not discussing Pearl Harbor or 9/11 immediately after those events, for example), but there is no reason for insults. I apologize to everyone here that I am throwing them right on back to SENZA currently, but I hope he will eventually tire of it, and get the message. If you think I am part of the problem here, let me know. I will take constructive criticism seriously, unlike some people on this site. Not that… Read more »
Also a nice post, Major D! I was hoping CoinNews would refute or confirm SENZA’s accusations which would have permanently ended SENZA’s go-to insult or chased fake people off the site (either a worthy goal), but they have remained silent.
Hi
Since the subject has been broached I wanted to say I enjoyed the coin threads from last year. This year has gone a little social personal in my opinion. I did receive a first post congratulations which I liked. Hopefully talking about our issues is a step in this CN thread to keep it active, I do enjoy reading it and I will continue to post relevant coin news.
Thanks for your input, Allan. I like this site, too.
