Gold rose more modestly while silver, platinum and palladium rallied in their start to the new trading week on Monday.
Gold for December delivery rose $14, or 0.8%, to settle at $1,805.20 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange.
"The precious metals were boosted today by a weaker U.S. dollar index and falling U.S. Treasury bond yields, as well as a rally in the crude oil market today. Some modest safe-haven demand was also featured in gold and silver," Jim Wyckoff, a senior analyst at Kitco Inc, said in a daily research note.
Gold futures traded between $1,786.90 and $1,806.40. They climbed 0.5% last week.
Silver for September delivery jumped 77.2 cents, or 3.9%, to end at $20.614 an ounce. Silver futures ranged from $19.74 and $20.75. The settlement was the highest since June 29.
In other precious metals futures prices on Monday:

October platinum tacked on $13.70, or 1.5%, to $938.40 an ounce, trading between $918.50 and $948.80.
- Palladium for September delivery soared $112.80, or 5.3%, to $2,241.50 an ounce, ranging from $2,116 to $2,252. The settlement was the best since April 29.
Last week, platinum gained 3.9% and palladium slopped 0.05%.
US Mint Bullion Sales in 2022
Published United States Mint bullion sales showed gains for the first time this month, rising a combined:
- 23,500 ounces in American Gold Eagles,
- 408,000 ounces in American Silver Eagles,
- 1,000 ounces in American Platinum Eagles, and
- 6,500 ounces in American Gold Buffalos.
