"The bulls still have technical momentum to suggest more price upside in the near term. Some safe-haven demand has been featured in the precious metals markets the past day or so, as the crypto currency markets have become very wobbly. Gains in the metals today were limited by a higher U.S. dollar index and lower crude oil prices,” Jim Wyckoff, a senior analyst at Kitco Inc, said in a daily research note.
Gold futures traded between $1,705.10 and $1,725.80. They advanced 2.1% on Tuesday, for their highest finish since Oct. 6, and they climbed 0.2% on Monday. As recently as Thursday, gold at $1,630.90 an ounce marked its lowest price since April 1, 2020.
Silver for December delivery gave back 17.5 cents, or 0.8%, to end at $21.327 an ounce. Silver futures traded between $21.05 and $21.70. They jumped 2.8% on Tuesday, for their best close since June 21, and they rose 0.7% on Monday.
