Precious metals gained together on Tuesday, registering increases that ranged from nearly 0.3% for silver to 2.6% for platinum.
Gold for June delivery bounced by $9.70, or 0.5%, to settle at $2,042.90 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange.
"Comex gold and silver futures prices are not straying too far from unchanged levels at midday Tuesday. Precious metals traders are very tentative ahead of important government and economic developments in the U.S. that will soon come into play for the marketplace," Jim Wyckoff, a senior analyst at Kitco Inc, said in a daily research note.
Gold futures traded between $2,026.40 and $2,045.10, after rising by 0.4% on Monday. On Thursday, gold at $2,055.70 an ounce settled at its best price since reaching a record on Aug. 6, 2020.
Silver for July delivery increased by 6.4 cents to end at $25.898 an ounce. Silver futures ranged from $25.57 to $25.93, after shedding 0.4% on Monday. On Thursday, silver at $26.227 an ounce logged its highest finish since March 10, 2022.
