two weeks until the proof Morgan/Peace dollars and still plenty available under subscription. of the uncirculated Morgan dollars (factoring in the the bulk purchases) I make it 273,331. slightly less than the 275,000
of the upcoming innovation dollar only 70 of the 25 coin P rolls are available under subscription and 10 of the D mintmark, and those won’t go on sale for a full month
Well, last count there was 25,000 coins left or so each one. I saw many of the posters here sent back all or at least 3 of 4 coins for refund. Maybe the 4,800 or so reported are the result of a slow mint adjusting the return numbers. Or they purposely held 10 percent knowing they’d get a lot of returns. The goal is to show a sale or profit. Even if 1 coin. Not losses. I’d bet over the next few reports they’ll return them slowly to the count to keep the % change number low, or off set… Read more »
Sadly, history is an evil mistress. While you are still alive and directly affected and have born scars of persecution and targeting, there are those that somehow claim to suffer just as badly for something that happened to someone that someone they knew heard about someone else that lived next to a guy who said he knew a guy’s grandfather who bought a hat from his uncle who died 160 years ago . I too have night terrors. Nightmares. That’s one reason I moved to quiet and secluded area from down the street from a military base. I still shop… Read more »
I’ve scaled back my subscription for the Proof Morgan/Peace Dollars to just two of each, just the same as my Uncirculated ones. I don’t need anymore and don’t think these are going to greatly appreciate in value due to the high mintage levels. I see the asking price for the recently released Uncirculated Morgans/Peace Dollars is only $109. That doesn’t bode well for any quick appreciation in price. Probably be below $100 by December.
Major D, Either your math is new age or you inadvertently added an extra digit, the 1, to your percentage. Of course these sites are going to add a margin fee to their asking price, after all they have to pay at least the initial price point for the coins. And they have to hope there are those gullible idiots out there willing to shell out their asking price for a coin minted 275,000 times. You must realise that you always ask the most for an item immediately after it’s released. I just don’t see any enthusiasm for coins minted… Read more »
I believe Craig meant adding 1 as in, 109 is 43% more than $76. To elaborate, $76 is the cost of acquisition. A price you pay regardless. So that $76 would not be factored into the cost increase and not necessary to arrive to the answer. Therefore 10% would be 7.6. X4 to get to 40% would be 7.6, +7.6= 15.2. + 7.6= 22.8+ 7.6= 30.4. Then add another 3%. (2.28) gives 32.68. Which isn’t 109. Indicating the number is off. I don’t feel like doing the exact math, but just say it’s 100, not 109. So the markup over… Read more »
Craig,
You can get them raw in Mint packaging from one dealer for just $99.95 with free shipping ($109 with free S&H from another dealer). The market is not moving except for the top 70 grade coins. Too many issued.

Seth,
Thanks for the update. I noticed even Magic Mike, who loves to push his ‘exclusive labels’, was selling his Advanced Release Morgan/Peace coins for $50 less than the ASE’s. This is what happens when you over produce an item. It kind of reminds me of what we’re doing to kid sports…where everyone gets a trophy for just being there.
Even with a subscription, and a waiting room and HOL increased to 25 the run still hasn’t sold out. Even higher mintage of other coins ran out quick and gone within 30 minutes with a HOL of 1. Magic mike said dealers in Orlando were catching buyers leaving the mint area so they offered $2,000 for 10 coins. Wads of cash so they can get the FUN demarcation on the graded coin. Currently selling for $299. Xrp is almost done with court. And open ai and apple released world coin. Just scan your eye into a data base and they’ll… Read more »
what will be interesting is what happens in the long run. The Proof dollars are $4 more, but there are 125,000 more of them. In this case I would guess that eventually the resale value of the proof will actually be less than the uncirculated.
Well, except of course you are reselling a first strike, dark luster, super shiny with a RED slab label signed by whomever, graded 70 ++++. 🙂
Tom,
The Mint usually does a very good job on Proof coinage. So, more of the Proofs will grade out at the top 70 grade & probably not much of a premium. The Denver Mint did a horrible job on the 2021-D Morgan silver dollars & they are trading in the top 70 grade at about $1000-$1500 depending on dealer & slab company/label.

I agree with major d. Not many of the series were proof coins. Depending how long the mint milks this cow, they may be the only proofs made. I can see them doing a release for at least each mint and finish type. (Proof, clad, maybe gold, uncirculated, reverse proof etc) by then the boomers should reach cocoon status and interest for the series will stop. Then mint will switch to cardi b, Nikki Minaj, and other modern day saints to try to get younger people interested in coin collecting. Maybe they’ll even use real bud light cans as part… Read more »
D & C- Population of the planet was 4 billion about the time I was born, 1958. So I’ve seen in my lifetime a doubling of the world’s population. This in less than 65 years. How long before the next doubling? I have no crystal ball, but it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out we have too many people and too few resources. Eventually, places where people now live will become uninhabitable (US Southwest, Northern Africa etc.) What happens when the ones that actually control the resources (like WATER) think their resources are more valuable than your (or… Read more »
There won’t be water. All these batteries will leech into aquifers just like the plastics have become normal in water. What surprised me was I saw an article last week about the water quality in Jackson Mississippi. The main focus was about an abandoned golf course. If memory serves it was built around 2002 to 2006. Shut down about 2012 to 2016. Apparently it had been leaking water for about 7 years. I’m not talking a drip here and there and from pond or rain catchment. No. It was a 50,000 gallon a day leak. Per day for 7 years.… Read more »
My thoughts. I bought a house that abuts a Indian wildlife preserve. So I have saltwater to get larger fish and crabs (manatee and dolphin and alligators have been seen since I moved here) plenty of bird species, squirrels, geese out the wazoo, raccoons, armadillo, possum and lizards) I am tapped to an artesian well with about a 9 gpm flow rate. But those that I don’t know won’t have to worry about the Sulphur hurting them as… Read more »
I can’t wait for the first earthlings to arrive on Mars and after a few days of exploration discover a billboard that says last hope of survival, get your lottery ticket for a chance at a seat on the last ship to earth.
Either that, or congress finally releases info about aliens and they admit they ruined the other planets and were coming here for refuge
I have a question i never saw officially answered. With so many morgans showing defects…..and being sent back….what becomes of those coins? If its just packaging im sure they repackage….but ….really….what DO they really do with coins with visible damage? I would HOPE 1 of 2 options….melt and adj mintage to actual or melt and remake to maximum mintage if within the given year.
I have asked the same question a few times. But never got a conclusive answer. I tried finding on mint page but they just tell you return conditions.

I asked the mint that question and this is what I was told:
“returns go back through quality control. Acceptable coins go back on the shelf, unacceptable coins are destroyed.”
Now if we can get their definition of acceptable we will have a better idea. I fear the same quality control personnel let them go out in the first place.
Major D,
The Peace silver dollars were also again available for a short time early this morning.
NumisdudeTX
Maybe they just wanted to try to get a better coin. If not. Probably return them too.
Anyone notice subscriptions for the 2024 unc morgan is now available?
Dominic,
Yes, both Morgan & Peace silver dollars were for the third time now available again this morning for a short while.

Im talking about for the 2024 release….picture shows 2023 but states next release is 2024 in subscriptions
Domenic,
I see what you mean. I was talking about the 2023 coins.

Kaiser,
Lol. With more than 300 products available on the Mint’s website, maybe we should just use their product numbers in our comments posts.
