This is not surprising as these are all time favorites. Many who collect commemoratives are opting for these as well since there are none for 2023.
We are about to find out. Tomorrow’s the big day.
so based on the numbers above (including the bulk sales of 40 coin items) 274,386 Uncirculated Morgan Dollars have sold, only 614 less than the 250,000 limit. yet some comments have indicated they are poor quality and have been returned. Either the Mint is reselling these (which my understanding from comments made they don’t do) or they haven’t updated the numbers yet to indicate all those returns or something else is going on. Less than a week left and there are still over 30,000 proof Morgan coins still available under subscription. They were close to a sell out earlier. Guess… Read more »
The mintage numbers are way too high for any profits. 400,000 proof 500,000 tanks. Watching television I seen at least three ads offering these coins however they don’t put the price. It appears the shysters have bought a bunch to drop on peoples heads my friend called and they were asking 199 per slab ANAcs 70. If you want the coins buy them but I don’t think there’s a profit to be made for a while if ever. Too many coins, not nurseries collectors that’ll pay $200 apiece selling on the eBay for $100 you lose money selling them for… Read more »
Right on mark, Frankie. Minted way too many to ever see a decent increase in value, especially considering your initial cost point for the coins. I was much more enthusiastic about the Morgans/Peace Dollars when you had to scramble to secure a few of each, regardless of whether you were successful or not. As far as I’m concerned, the only winner for these coins now is the Mint. They charge us $76 -$80 for a coin that doesn’t even contain 1 oz. of Ag! That’s how you make $$$.
Craig and Frankie,
not everyone is out for a profit…..coin collecting….numismatism….its a hobby and fun for most of us. Some coins gain value some lose…..its all partof the hobby.
Kauser,
I’m still collecting a couple of the Morgan/Peace Dollars for myself. I think they are a major improvement in appearance over the ASE’s and I’m looking forward to receiving them. I just like to collect things that have the potential to increase over time. You wouldn’t buy a stock just to tell people I have this stock. No, you want the stock to increase in value steadily for as long as you hold it, unless you had a magical stock that pays a huge dividend every quarter without a depreciation of its share price.
Major D,
That’s part of the fun in collecting, to see a gradual increase in its value. I have ASE’s that have increased nicely since I purchased them from the mint, primarily due to the fact that they cost ‘only’ about $20 – $49 each. I think the Mint saw what people were selling some of their products for immediately after release and decided that they should be the ones to rake in the money. For me, I’d buy more coins if the premiums for the precious metals was reasonable, but I think that may not be anytime soon. Lol.
When I buy stock I’m looking for an investment that will increase in value, but I collect coins to simply possess them.
My investments in stocks provide the resources to indulge my hobby.
To each his own.
I should’ve said ‘To each his/her own.’ Gotta be PC these days! Lol
Or ‘To each his/her/nonbinary own.’ 🙁
To answer a previous ? In other post. No didn’t dump stock. Didn’t contribute as much as I’d like. More of an out of sight out of mind, and life, it seems, can be a fickle and cruel mistress. I’m glad you enjoyed some of the recent market gains. I know there are people in government taking advantage of the market (insider trading) to get rich and I don’t think that’ll ever change. It is a shame that justice is pretty much dead in this country, unless you worship at the alter of the democratic party. But I don’t allow that to affect my outlook on life, because if I did, I’d be a miserable individual. Besides, I do well making money using my own brain. Dazed-
I think this tops that poem, because it is so true
the one least responsible….
It’s not my job to run the train,
The whistle I don’t blow.
It’s not my job to say how far
The train’s supposed to go.
I’m not allowed to pull the brake,
Or even ring the bell.
But let the damn thing leave the track
And see who catches hell!
Same here Kaiser. I’m certainly not collecting coins because I think they’ll make me rich, I just like to see a gradual increase in value so that I don’t feel like an ass putting money into a stagnant asset…a lot of money when you consider the years I’ve been collecting!
Or maybe they are tired of paying double the face value for a common quarter. I collected the ATB S minted quarters, but haven’t purchased any of the women quarters since they required you to purchase all mint options. I don’t miss them either.
You can collect them. I’m interested in coins containing silver and gold. I realise you will always pay more than face value for coins from the mint, I’m just not interested in paying a 100% premium for a common quarter. I don’t care who’s face is on them.
Why do you assume that I bought a proof ASE or 1 oz. AGE? I passed on both of those options this year! I just took Kaisers advice and lowered my subscriptions for the Proof Morgan/Peace Dollars to 1 each. He is right, this time, when he said you only need one each. I like to collect gold coins, but I have no interest in paying the mint $900 plus to press one, or as I’ve said, pay double for a common quarter. That’s a fools game!
I know all that, but doubt that I’ll be able to buy one for less than $80. But instead of buying several, as I usually would do, I’m only buying 1 each mainly due to the high mintage numbers, and to a lesser degree, the premium. Also, I am convinced that coins on the secondary market have probably failed to grade a certain way or have a distinct flaw in them so I almost always buy from the source (the Mint.)
Kaiser,
Thank you for your kind words! I did take your words of wisdom and decided to get just one of each. Besides, it’ll allow me to pick up a few of the RP Morgan/Peace Dollars Set in the Fall. The RP coins the Mint produces are some of my favorite coins in my collection. I’m really looking forward to seeing those coins.
Kaiser Wilhelm, et al.-
I gave up on the ordering Morgan/Peace dollars from the Mint after the fiasco over the 2021 coins. I certainly understand the interest – I share that as well. The Mint’s handling of 2021 and 2022 series soured me on trying to deal much with them ever again. I did finally get 3 Morgans and 1 Peace, but it was 25 of the most stressful minutes of my life. I’m not sure my heart can take anything like that again!
Kaiser Wilhelm- Glad I could give you a laugh! Looking back on it, screaming at the computer in a red-faced rage does seem rather… ridiculous. Don’t get me wrong – I love the Peace dollar (one of our most beautiful coins ever) and I’m a fool for Proof finished coins (must be part crow-anything shiny), but just can’t seem to get over the bad taste from that one. Unlike some, I don’t care two figs for potential value increase. That’s what the stock market, etc is for. I just like to have & hold certain coins. If I decide I… Read more »

It seems like every morning they have one of those 7:30 AM East Coast time sales nice and 430 here in the West Coast Inn when I’m in Hawaii. It’s 2:30 in the morning. Very fair to anybody west of DC. No surprise there is a total East Coast by us and even though I asked remind me for whatever reason I’ve never got a remind me for any peace or Morgan. Just saw that my CC has a pending charge from the Mint. I won’t be long now till we can hold a proof Morgan/Peace!
Kaiser,
And it’s time to get the Festivus pole out, and the annual airing of grievances shall commence now! Lol.
NumisdudeTX
I heard pole. Does this mean they’ll be strippers there
So lucky. Magic mike says they already sold out. The advance release he knocked over during his midnight pitch was just a display according to him. However a new tidbit of info emerged. 3 years ago mint started their advanced release. Apparently, the 18 AP, which he is partnered and deals for 4 himself, were upset about bots, and his people being online and on phone for long time and unable to get all the coins they wanted. They complained of having to hit fee bay and other sites and pay ridiculous fees to accrue them and pay expedited shipping… Read more »
Don’t know the handshake deals, all I know is what he said live on air and I paraphrased it as best I could. He said special contact struck and they get additional allotment. He also said that the designation of Advance release is the only identifier the mint authorized. So first day issue, early release, this hoard, that hoard, this shipwreck or whatever else are created by sellers (the 18) and/or grading companies themselves. advace release is a mint thing. Must be received before coin sells. He said that 3 years ago the 18 and mint contracted to allot more… Read more »
https://youtu.be/mBEi4bmbwYU Here it is from horse’s mouth. This is from the Uncirculated airing a couple weeks ago. Last night he talked about contract with mint, but I only see a 3 minute video for that and the upgraded showing. By that, live at midnight or 1 am whenever it aired, he was with white woman and went into ton of detail of what happened. Now I can only find the 6pm? One that has black lady cohost and about 3 minutes long. Severely shortened. I also caught 18 Advance sellers and dealers. Whether that means 18 total or 18 AP… Read more »
Dazed,
I didn’t shed any tears hearing the women soccer team got booted out of the tournament. I didn’t actually see it (I’d rather paint one of my rooms than watch soccer!) Also I haven’t eaten at subway since they paid rapino as an endorser. I do wish advertisers never started to use athletes to peddle their products. I get sick and tired of seeing near billionaires telling me how delicious a particular hamburger is or what beans to buy.
i see they are only showing the miracle bounce back that won it, and not Rapino. Have not seen her missed shot. But ton of it on the chick that hit the goal post. I would have thought Rapino missed it far left and out of touch. I also do not go to subway since her hiring. nor have i gone to busch gardens parks, but to be fair, busch gardens started sucking a couple years ago. I was season pass holder there for like 15 years. one of, if not my favorite place in the world, but you will… Read more »
How come I didn’t see Hershey Park in the list of amusement parks you’ve enjoyed in the past? I used to live about 20 minutes from Hershey, so it was a favourite of mine. Hershey is an expensive area to live in, hence the park was always a safe place to enjoy. I haven’t been back in several years as I don’t miss standing in line for an hour to get on a ride. I’ll leave that pleasure for the kids!
I thought of mentioned Hershey park, but then I’d have to take the Hershey highway, and I hear their official beer tastes like baby Clydesdale urine. Also, never been to Hershey Park. Or cedar rapids or dollywood.
I hear there is a relatively new amusement park near chernobyl. You’d think it could power itself with all the nuclear energy in the area. I like carnivals, mostly for the coin push game. Rides were ok but way too expensive. Went to state fair. Nothing but funnel cakes, sausage, and lemonade. Maybe 3 rides. Thought of going to one while in Texas, but it is associated with red river shootout. So crazy busy. Not worth the 4 hour drive one way. Went to Santa Monica pier while waiting for layover. Was on r&r in middle of deployment. Naturally, it… Read more »
D & C,
Riding the rides at the Chernobyl Amusement Park causes cancer! But, you will glow with excitement…

Kaiser,
I couldn’t agree more with you! And to get into these amusement parks now requires close to the average workers weekly pay. I’d much prefer to just watch the good looking women in short shorts standing in line! Lol
Craig,
Lmao…I can just see you on a very HOT day with sweat pouring off your face & a slurpy in one hand & a hot dog in the other while looking for pretty ladies with short shorts with camel toe. Time for a cold shower!
NumisdudeTX
Now Seth I never mentioned Camel Toe! lol.
Moose knuckles. Monkey lips. Clam shell. And to keep it money related. Rolls of quarters.
I was thinking of Rodney dangerfield with a hot dog and a beer wearing flip flops. Then it flipped to John candy. The great Lundy
Kaiser,
Thanks for the memories/pic.
Everytime I see that great comedy movie, I almost piss myself during that scene laughing so hard! Lol.

The funniest 5 second skit
Robot chicken’s
Alien vs Predator.
Probably followed by it’s skit of The Matrix and Morpheus explaining the rabbit hole.
I was young kid when PT&A came out. Don’t recall much from it. Just remember polka music and I lost interest. For Christmas movie, gotta go with lampoon. Not a fan of home alone. After seeing mommy dearest and home alone, I’m convinced Catherine o Hara or whatever her name is, shouldn’t be a mom.
That is wild to have those car which do look like a San Francisco street car. I’ll bet that brings back some fond memories!
Dazed,
I saw Rapinoe miss her shot, reminded me of a scene in Battleship where Hopper launches a free kick way over the goal and the Japanese won the contest. Man, that Rapinoe is aging poorly as she looks worn out already. I wonder where she gets her hair coloured…Sherwin-Williams?
You forgot middle east tradition. You can’t leave them out. That would be rude so in the spirit of He who has no name. Def to the infidel
D & C,
And no alcohol & no porn magazines/videos for them, except for the murderer Crown Prince MBS of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia…

Are you saying you are trying not to throw stones. That’s a little radical.
I just looked at my USM orders and I have 3 of my 6 subscriptions already in the processing stage
My cc has also been charged for these 3 orders. They were processes on 8-5 &8-6.
Have not checked accounts. But no email from mint. Guess when they mail it I will get a heads up
Both mine are being processed and ready to be shipped!
All of my six scriptings (a total of 4 Morgans and 4 Peace dollars) are in the processing stage and my CC has pending CC charges for all of them too. You just have to love the subscription option.
I would like to buy a silver eagle coin
