Precious Metals Rise on Tuesday, Dec. 19

Precious metals advanced as a group on Tuesday, with gains ranging from 0.6% for gold to 3.5% for palladium.

Gold for February delivery tacked on $11.60 to settle at $2,052.10 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange. Gold futures traded between $2,034.80 and $2,061. On Monday, gold prices edged up by 0.2%.

Meanwhile, silver for March delivery rose by 21.4 cents, or 0.9%, to end at $24.321 an ounce. Silver futures ranged from $24.04 to $24.48. They shed 0.2% on Monday.

In other precious metals prices on Tuesday:

  • January platinum added $11.50, or 1.2%, to $965.80 an ounce, trading between $945.20 and $968.

  • Palladium for March delivery jumped by $41.50 to $1,240.90 an ounce, ranging from $1,178.50 to $1,257.

US Mint Bullion Sales in 2023

On Friday, the U.S. Mint published new bullion sales data, which includes updated figures for November and the initial figures for December. No further changes have been published since then.
