For the second week in a row, the 20-coin uncirculated 2023 Mint Set topped the U.S. Mint’s list of best weekly sellers. In its first full week of sales, the set advanced by another 7,838 units, reaching a total of 171,967, after having climbed to 164,129 during its initial six days of release.
This year’s set has a stated product limit of only 185,000 units. If all are sold, the set’s mintage would still be the lowest since 1958 when 50,314 sets were sold.
Ranking second in weekly sales for the U.S. Mint was its clad 2023 Proof Set, which increased by 6,218 units to reach a total of 368,727. This set has been available for six months now since its release on June 20.
To provide some insight into its potential trajectory, its sales are approximately 9,380 units higher than what the 2022 Proof Set had achieved in its first six months. The 2022 set, which is unavailable, has last reported sales of 400,013.
The U.S. Mint did release a new product last week: the U.S. Marine Corps Bronze Medal for $20. However, the Mint does not publish sales figures for its bronze medals. Nevertheless, its release appears to have boosted sales of the companion 1oz silver version, which increased by 333 units compared to the previous week, while the 1oz silver medals honoring the Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard only gained 207, 114, and 65 sales, respectively.

Additionally, three products recorded negative weekly sales, the same as in the previous sales report. With the exception of the 2023-S Morgan & Peace Silver Dollar Reverse Proof Set, which dropped by 106, all the other reductions were only one each.

The 2023 proof set is unavailable at the Mint. If it finishes at this mintage it’s the lowest in close to 70 years.
As you mentioned 2023 uncirculated is the lowest since 1958 should sell out soon!
Looks like the two most standard sets will be the hits of this year.
1958 set are $60. After 70 years seems to have gained value. But is way more scarce than the current issue. 70 years of foreclosures, evictions, house fires, hurricane, flood, tornado, wild fire. Tossed in trash. Landfill. Broke open and put into circulation. I wonder when adjusted for inflation, the markup made. Also the 58 set was silver.
I cannot imagine how morgan and peace returned so far out. Guess they didn’t grade 70 and AP got refund not afforded to us common folk. A Christmas miracle.
The 2020 uncirculated sept selling for close to $50 on eBay. It has a mintage of 213,000. Almost 30,000 more than the proposed 185,000 the search should sell out and should be going for minimum $50 within the next month.
Is it because of the low mintage or the fact that it excluded the nickel at the last minute. I think the change of content is the driver on that.
Not having the nickel, it should be a reason not to be interest
I didn’t realise we should use FeeBay as a basis for determining the value of our coins. I did not know this. I understand there are lots of folks that like to buy the mints annual uncirculated and proof sets, but I wonder how many consider 213,000 sets available as being limited. For me, Magic Mike would have to hammer 150,000 sets to make his precious HSN offerings, for me to consider buying this. I typically only buy precious metals coins, but have ceased that due to the mints new pricing structure.
eBay pricing is probably the best way to Gauge , market interest, and pricing and value
Craig, I was shocked this year when I did something I have rarely done since I started buying coins from the Mint and coin dealers from ads on Coin World newspaper in the summer of 1976 when my family moved to Germany & I worked on base full-time in the USA DOD summer hire program for high school students – I took a couple of extra coins & coin sets I bought from the Mint in the past few years that were all limited edition, and the long-time coin shop since 1970 in my neighborhood has new very young owner… Read more »
By contrast, did you look in the cdn and counter his offer based on his assessment. Or ask why he sells these books at $20 when he himself wouldn’t use them or reference them?
Well the red and blue books are annual and with bidenomics, gold and silver fluctuate crazily so value of coins can also. Fee bay is a decent way to check quickly for coins. However……… the same coin advertisers on this site, are also slinging on hsn, and fox business, and qvc, and shop at home, and etsy, and their own site, and their sister site and their overseas site and their pawn shop and other sites and most likely ask different prices on each one to see which sticks. Well they don’t buy the cheap one because it might be… Read more »
I think I solved the jfk riddle.
You know how the military hands out challenge coins for outstanding performance, I think the JFK halves are given only to politicians and pentagon officials. When they travel abroad to meet dignitaries and other leaders they give out the coin as a signal to remind them what happens to those that go against the grain. They lose their head. If they would take out their own president, no problem taking them out should they cross an actual line, not the fake arbitrary ones Obama drew. Those were just virtue signaling.
2023 proof back order to ship January 2024. Listed as no limits. So probably unavailable for time being. Most likely sold first run and changed to other coins and will stamp more later. Hard to say.
It’s been on back order for over three months. With a few weeks of a shipping delay , now over the weekend became unavailable.
Would make sense not making any more as it’s been this huge delay for so long
I think Dec 31 is last day they can stamp anyway. Anything after would have to be 2024. I could be wrong. It might be Oct due to start of next fiscal year, but considering the uncirculated set doesn’t go on sale til near end of year, I’m more apt to conclude the deadline is Dec 31
Whatever happened to the circulation strike sets the mint sold for a few years awhile back? They were great to open and fill in books.
Domenic Vaiasicca, The Mint got rid of that program because it was a low priced item & the flexible plastic packaging that pealed back to take the quarters out to put them in an album & the large white envelope with the name of the quarters in black ink, cost them a lot because it was a custom job not used on any other Mint product. Also, it was meant for kids to be a cheap way to collect them all & not have to look through tons of circulating coins & the Mint decided they couldn’t raise the price… Read more »
The goal is to stupify the youth. Dumb em down. That’s why teaching clock reading and check book balancing and letter writing and counting money is not taught. Yeah i know they may be obsolete or antiquated, but they are still used elsewhere. In Iraq they still use the slider and carbon paper to process credit cards. But the biggest change is how math is computed itself. As I was graduating our schools were switching from 6 classes all year to 4 classes per semester. And all the books were being replaced. That is so parents can’t teach their kids… Read more »

So the end game is to remove the coin collections that appeal to kids that could be used as educational and learning aids. As parents mostly use cards and rarely cash and work 3 part time jobs without benefits because Obama care incentivized business to remove healthcare plans or offer as a perk as well as reduce full time workers to part time so that other perks no longer apply. Fun fun fun
so, FYI the other day I went with my mother for a ‘cognitive assessment’ at the doctor’s office. one of the questions was a blank clockface (no numbers or hands, but it had 12 tick marks in the usual places) and she was asked to draw in the hands for the time of 10 after 10. she got it ok, but I wondered if you had asked 20-somethings today would they all fail this question, apparently never having used an analog clock enough to set the time on one?
People always say even a broken clock is right twice a day. But what if it is broke and doesn’t have hands. Since time is relative, would the clock be always right? Or does not having hands make it something other than a clock. Therfore is excluded and makes all clocks right twice? If you really wanna throw them a curve, make em do it using 24 hour. It’s 23:17.
How can that be, 12 is the highest ever.
D&C,
Not to mention the “military alphabet” my USAF Intelligence Command officer taught me as a young teen – Alpha, Bravo, Charlie…etc. Kids today don’t even understand that either, nor do they know Roman Numerals! (Not even SuperBowl®️©️™️ LXI) etc.! Lol…Most kids are stupid these days in some ways, but many of their parents are even more ignorant IMHO.
And don’t even mention the word “numismatics” or like some idiot who asked about my favorite hobby & I said that word & he said “What language is that??” I told him it’s Greek to me! LMAO…

What a shame. For us that live on the west coast and like to scour coin rolls (even after 50 yeRs doing it) it takes FOREVER for the P mint mark coins to reach us in AU condition.
Don’t worry, when China takes over the west coast, you’ll be on Chinese time, so you’ll get the coin hours before the east coast goes on sale.
