Gold stood out among precious metals with an increase on Tuesday, reaching another more than two-week high. Whether it was gold or the other metals, their price changes were slight.
Gold for April delivery rose by $6.30, or 0.3%, to settle at $2,050.90 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange. For a second day, the settlement was the highest since Jan. 12 when gold ended at $2,051.60 an ounce.
"A big part of gold moving is rates have been coming off and the dollar is in the red, but we are seeing the market elevated due to the anticipation for the Fed interest rate decision on Wednesday," Reuters quoted Daniel Pavilonis, senior market strategist at RJO Futures.
Gold futures traded between $2,047.10 and $2,068. They climbed by 0.4% on Monday.
Meanwhile, silver for March delivery dipped by 2.6 cents, or 0.1%, to end $23.225 an ounce. Silver prices ranged from $23.05 to $23.43. On Monday, they advanced by 1.7%, marking their best close since Jan. 12.

April platinum shed $6.60, or 0.7%, to $931.70 an ounce, trading between $922.10 and $940.
- Palladium for March delivery inched down by $1.70, or 0.2%, to $979.50 an ounce, ranging from $972 to $997.50.
US Mint Bullion Sales in 2024
On Tuesday, for the first time this week, the U.S. Mint reported bullion sales gains, including 18,500 ounces in American Gold Eagles and 7,500 ounces in American Gold Buffalos.
