One of the most eagerly awaited annual products from the United States Mint becomes available today at noon ET with the release of the 2024 Proof Set, priced at $35.
Sets like these are a must-have for many collectors because they include examples of the nation’s circulating coinage, but with coins featuring the U.S. Mint’s proof quality finish. The clad composition strikes boast sharp reliefs and mirror-like backgrounds with frosted, sculpted foregrounds. Each coin has been struck multiple times using polished dies and hand-polished blanks, resulting in an enhanced level of detail compared to their circulating counterparts.
A total of ten clad coins are included as part of the 2024 Proof Set, listed below:
- 2024-S Native American $1 Coin (commemorating the Indian Citizenship Act of 1924)
- 2024-S Kennedy Half Dollar
- 2024-S Reverend Dr. Pauli Murray Quarter
- 2024-S Honorable Patsy Takemoto Mink Quarter
- 2024-S Dr. Mary Edwards Walker Quarter
- 2024-S Celia Cruz Quarter
- 2024-S Zitkala-Ša, also known as Gertrude Simmons Bonnin, Quarter
- 2024-S Roosevelt Dime
- 2024-S Jefferson Nickel
- 2024-S Lincoln Cent
All of these were produced at the U.S. Mint’s facility in San Francisco.
The quarters feature designs exclusive to this year. They were released separately as part of the 2024 Quarters Proof Set, which was issued on February 27th for $23. These quarters are also included in other U.S. Mint products throughout the year, such as bags and rolls containing circulation-quality issues, and special U.S. Mint ornaments designed to hold each quarter.
Additionally, the set includes a sixth coin that is also year-specific in design, the Native American dollar. The Mint had previously released rolls, bags, and boxes of this dollar at prices ranging from $34.50 to $289.75. However, it is important to note that these dollars have a regular circulating finish.
