A fine display of good intentions and certainly another step in the right direction. As to how much success will result from this ongoing effort remains to be seen.

The Mint’s sales woes continue. The 7-28 sales report has the Morgan Unc (24XE) at 172,195, a loss of 1,419 from the prior week; and the Peace Unc (24XH) at 165,003, a loss of 1,538. At the same point last year 23XE had 261,048 cumulative sales and 23XH had 260,666. For the 2024 M&P this is a sales decline of 34.0% and 36.5% from 2023. Meanwhile, the 2024 W-Proof ASE (24EA) is at 267,057, where 23EA was at 426,408 after the same number of weeks- so this is a sales decline of 37.4%. The 2024 W-Unc ASE (24EG) fared better… Read more »

I used to collect the Burnished ASE’s(my favorite strike)but not anymore, mostly due… Read more »

Rick,

Those are indeed some truly spot-on points you’ve come up with. The highest ever prices all around certainly aren’t helping sales, there’s really no denying that. ASEs have been around for years and as such may finally be losing some customer and/or collector enthusiasm. Finally, the Morgan and Peace Dollars both became annual products rather precipitously, possibly without enough potential long-term interest having been generated for their ongoing existence.

Major D, Thanks for all the current sales numbers for the two distinct varieties of Silver Dollars and the comparisons of them with those of the identical coins after the same amount of sales time had elapsed last year. One unique set of figures I find particularly intriguing is that for the percentages of the decreases in sales for each item from last year so I’ve now listed them here in the order of that number: 1) minus 37.4% – 2024 W-Proof ASE (24E) 2) minus 36.5% – 2024 Peace Unc (24XH) 3) minus 34.0% – 2024 Morgan Unc (24XE)… Read more »
