Australian bullion demand surged in September, according to data from The Perth Mint, with sales of gold and silver products reaching multi-month highs.
The Mint reported that its bullion sales received an additional boost in September, fueled by the release of the Australian Lunar Series III 2025 Year of the Snake bullion coins.
"Our lunar series is always eagerly anticipated by our customers and judging by sales alone, this year’s range has proved as popular as ever," said Neil Vance, The Perth Mint’s General Manager of Minted Products.
"Designer Sean Rogers has done a magnificent job capturing the characteristics of the snake as expressed in lunar folklore and we look forward to releasing more from this range over coming months."
The Perth Mint’s bullion gains are set against rising precious metals prices in September, with LBMA prices (in USD) increasing by 5.5% for gold and 4.6% for silver.

Speaking of bullion, AKBob said yesterday: “I just received a text from Bullion Shark for the First Release “STAR” Privy on a American Silver Eagle MS70 is $99, a MS69 is $69 I think and there’s some Gem BU’s too.” There weren’t any MS69’s available as best I could tell. Just the MS70’s and Gem Uncirculated’s. With this being just the second ASE with an added privy and collectors often willing to pay for labels, this coin with the “1 of First 50,000 Releases” label appears initially to have some upside IMO. A few have sold for $175-$185 on EBay… Read more »
Cali, Your Welcome! I too picked up one MS70. The 70’s have sold out, that happened in one day too! I only purchased mine because I thot it was a small investment with a potential of having some “upside”!! Most here know I do not purchase Silver unless there’s an upside, this one may have a nice little upside. In time we’ll know more. I kinda wished I had purchased 5 of these but it’s now too late 🙁 . Oh, I just got another text from Bullion Shark and they now have more but these have the black core… Read more »
AKBob, ironically when I click on the link I saved from last evening, I’m taken to the site and indeed, they(2024 (P) Silver Eagle NGC MS70 – First Star Privy 1 of First 50,000 Releases) are not available as a Pre Sale any longer. Other thing I noticed is that the listed price was $149. Another thing to note, is that they probably didn’t or weren’t able(?) to corner the market on all of the 1 of 1st 50,000 labels? Also I did see the Black Core MS70 /Black Label and noticed that, that particular label is being advertised as… Read more »
I’m in the left out section since I collect neither medals nor bullion. Each to his own.
There are only 80 or so left of those MS70 Black Core label Star Privy ASE’s left. Gone in the next few minutes to 1/2 max!
Actually 121 available based on trying to figure out their inventory through using various different numbers to pre order. Sorry, my bad…
