The United States Mint will unveil its redesigned website on Oct. 30, consolidating its resources and sales store websites to enhance usability and accessibility. The revamped site promises streamlined navigation, larger coin images, and a more intuitive experience, reflecting feedback from customers and collectors alike.
To complete this transition, the U.S. Mint indicates its site will be temporarily unavailable from 10 p.m. ET on Oct. 29 until 1 a.m. on Oct. 30.
In preparation for the redesign and launch, the U.S. Mint shared the following message via email with customers on Tuesday, Oct. 29:
Dear Valued Customer,
We’re excited to announce that the redesigned U.S. Mint website launches on October 30. After many interviews with customers and constituents and reviewing website and call center suggestions, we’re implementing a number of exciting updates that will make our website easier to use.
We’re combining our websites, catalog.usmint.gov and usmint.gov, to streamline and better organize our content. Starting October 30, you can visit https://usmint.gov for coin and medal information and sales, news, and historic and agency information. For educational and youth-oriented content, you can find us at https://kids.usmint.gov.
Some of the many benefits of our new website will include:
- Simpler navigation
- Enhanced order history and subscription pages
- 40% larger coin and medal images
- Improved product schedule layout and navigation
- Improved focus on news and events across the U.S. Mint
- Streamlined and re-organized content
- More interactive elements and features
Best of all, you won’t need to update your account — all existing usernames, passwords, order histories, and subscriptions will remain in place and ready to use on October 30.
We hope you’ll enjoy all the updates we’ve made and can’t wait for you to see how easy it is to learn, shop, and discover more about the wonderful world of coin collecting with the U.S. Mint.
Has anyone had a chance to check out the designs for the potential coins to be introduced in 2026? Some are quite interesting.
Thanks for bringing this up Antonio! I did review the proposed designs last week on the Mints website. Definitely some interesting designs. For any interested, here is a Coin Worlds article on the topic, by Paul Gilkes, titled: “CFA sees potential designs for 2026 quarter dollars”. https://www.coinworld.com/news/us-coins/cfa-sees-potential-designs-for-2026-quarter-dollars PS With the Mints website down for a remodel, I’m not able to reference their link. I believe that if you go to, “About” or “News”, once the site is back up and running, their is a link to CCAC Images/Meetings, where you can view all the images that were considered by the… Read more »
The designs that were chosen out of many other candidates are definitely excellent picks! Apparently those committees know what they are doing.
Did that and like them a lot. Those will make for some very attractive coins.
I recall the build up for the previous 2 versions of the Mints web site…..the one real improvement that matters to me, being able to purchase limited releases at the time of release, is never addressed….I’m sure the big boys will get the majority, irrespective of a HH limit of one.
Just my opinion, but I rather think for something as momentous as that to change requires more than merely a website alteration; this would call for a change of sales philosophy.
Received a mint email. LESP will be out next week. $255 is the price. Ouch!! Well, this new website won’t pay for itself. Expect a new and improved precious metal pricing grid with much higher premiums will help pay for this new website too.
$255 talk about being buried in an item. Crazy.
This won’t be the topped out price if silver starts moving up again. On the other hand, while gold has shot up, silver has been doing its typical straggling act so far.
Ah, I remember when a silver medal cost $32. 😐
Which would now be just below the spot price of silver. Things do change.
Let’s see if there is any ramifications re: FH Au website glitches, etc…….etc.
It has already happened. Check the web page for the FH Au for the discrepancies.
BTW you can see both October 15 & 16 meetings on YT by checking out the link below.
https://m.youtube.com/results?
Or you can go directly onto YT and do a search for either meeting using: “CCAC Public Meeting 10/15/24”
& “CCAC Public Meeting 10/16/24”
I am pretty sure they nuked the “AvailableCount” in when the USM updated the website. Go figure.
AvailableCount no longer works for me either VinnieC. Nor do any of it’s equivalents.
So the Mint removed that function, brought it back for a while, and now it’s gone again.
I just tried all the choices like data available. Nothing works. There must be a way. I’m sure Son understands the software can figure this out.
frankly i’m not sure why that was ever there in the first place – pushing that data out is nice to have but it can’t be relied upon by the web page as it could obviously have changed after it was pushed out. but they could have written a microservice for delivering that data in a more visible way on the new site, heck they could have even made it into one of those sales cable channel countdown thingies: “only 74,321 remaining in stock! buy quick before they are all gone!”
c_q,
Maybe the coin countdown display is copyrighted by Magic Mike Mezack!
Still no image of the 2024 Flowing Hair gold coin?
But they have this statement on the FHG page to cause panic, confusion, and FOMO…
“This product is currently on backorder.
This item is available to be ordered now, but it is not currently in stock. Additional inventory is being made. Please add the item to your cart to see when additional inventory is expected to be available.”
https://www.usmint.gov/230th-anniversary-flowing-hair-gold-coin-24YG.html
“This product will be available for sale on November 14, 2024.”
Someone at the Mint couldn’t make up their mind?
Not only a big blank space where the image should be but also more than a bit of confusion as to when this coin can be ordered.
Kaiser, et al.,
This is why I no longer even attempt to order anything from the USM anymore. Even if I could afford gold at the Mint’s inflated prices, their (lack of) customer service and institutional incompetence has alienated me for good. I may reconsider for the 250-year anniversary coins; we’ll see if they continue the vertical fornication.
How many coins will be released for the 250th anniversary of the American revolution? I find it all confusing. There are other commemoratives that will be released that year as well. Coin overload and overpricing can be counterproductive. I thought the Mint learned that already.
Expect gold examples as well….
Ventris has proven herself to be cunning, clever, and original in moving inventory, and creating numismatic profit for her USM annual report…,
Small fractional gold specimens would play nicely in serving ‘all collectors’ with their inherent fractional gold content sizes (there’s your inclusiveness)… albeit it carry proportionally higher premiums on a % / ounce weight, to unsuspecting purchasers (there’s your profit take)…, like collector ‘trick or treat; .., so either way, you’re gonna want, and you’re gonna get screwed at the USM drive thru… LoL
I’d pass in. ventris likely $450 tenth z….or $550
KC&SO,
The upside to being screwed by the Mint is you don’t catch anything.
Antonio,
If the Mint releases mandated commemoratives in 2026 in addition to everything else coming out that year it will be a complete madhouse.
Palladium is currently headed south as fast as it was previously going up. I assume that’s profit-taking on the part of the big money men.
palladium is rather fickle because it’s most popular use is in catalytic converters (about 80% of all demand). but because the largest producer of palladium is sanctioned-to-the-hilt russia, there has been a move to replace palladium with platinum – not that simple a task mind you, as an entire vehicle’s emission system has to be engineered for either palladium or platinum. if you believe that fuel-burning cars and trucks are going the way of the do-do bird soon, then you might think about staying away from palladium (and platinum to a lesser extent, as it has more non-catalytic demand than… Read more »
c_q,
If someone is really inventively entrepreneurial, perhaps they could pull the same stunt with palladium that De Beers did so successfully with diamonds when they managed to create a jewelry market for their product from practically nowhere.
Obviously the changes weren’t tested much since you can’t sign in with your email address but you can by using your id that you used before. I called and they said it was being worked on.
Good enough for government work.
The word is out that people in general aren’t as industrious as they used to be and that laziness is less shy about rearing its ugly head. Could indeed be the case.
Definitely a learning curve to navigating the new site. One thing I wish for, would be able to view more than 9 items on a page initially. IMO, it would be really nice to view or page through an entire product category, without having to load an an additional 9 items without having to click at the bottom of the page to get the next 9 to populate, and so on. For instance the American Eagle category has 60 items listed and you can only load 9 at a time. That takes 6 additional clicks, plus scrolling. Kind of annoying… Read more »
CaliSkier,
The USPS has that “item multiplier” on its website. However, your mail is going everywhere but to you these days, so maybe somebody’s stealing from Peter to pay Paul.
BTW, equally annoying is that the Product Schedule is the same as I outlined above. Just 9 items initially and you can only add 9 more items at a time, vs being able to scroll through the whole list in order to get to the end of the year. Hmmm… Seems to me, as if this upgraded site, is actually a downgrade???
Lowest bidder wins the contract.
yeah, that is quite lame i thought. it would be somewhat better if you could at least specify more than 9 items at a time.
Consider this. Someone looked at that “upgrade” and said, Yes, this is perfect.
Very lame, and predictable. I see a 4th revision
Probably the best picture I have seen of Director Gibson. She looks pretty genuine here. Her background is interesting too. I would also bet she knows a thing or two about aircraft. She will be in office until 2027. Ex-Navy Veteran and Ex-Department of Veteran Affairs. Certainly a respectable woman in my opinion.

These clowns at the USM certainly DID NOT peer view the beta version with actual people that use their website…. More clicks required to get the same info as prior (F) No “Add to Bag” RED BOX – that red box sure was helpful to scan if an item was in stock or if it wasn’t.. (D-) FHS & FHG are now separated out into Silver and Gold separately (C) Still no image of FHG (D-) Did the Image Library just go away? Or did I not hunt and peck enough to find it…, glad I’m done after FHG, otherwise… Read more »
KC&SO, you mention: “Did the Image Library just go away? Or did I not hunt and peck enough to find it…” Trick or Treat! Yeah, this is another trick by the US Mint upgrade team. Images used to be able to be accessed, via the menu. No longer the case! From the Mints main web page, scroll to the bottom and click on “RESOURCES”. Also the sales figures and Annual Reports are located down there at the bottom of the main page as well vs accessible via the Menu. Definitely a learning curve navigating the Mints newest version of their… Read more »
KC&SO you also wrote: “3 FHS & FHG are now separated out into Silver and Gold separately (C)“ You can use the search option, type in “flowing” and you can view the Au Coin and Ag Medal on the same page. Of course, still no image of the Au coin.
I do NOT like this supposedly New & Improved US Mint Website! Actually, I hate it. What a pain! Why was it necessary to do it anyways if they weren’t going to make it easier to navigate. I know what to look for, I feel for others that are new and have to figure this joke out! So happy I’m done after the FHG!! I’m still curious about Returns on the FHS. If there’s few Returns, I won’t be surprised. Any other Medal tho, there’d definitely be lots of Returns but because of the Medal looking like a coin, 1794… Read more »
The Mint has copied eBay, they always “improve “ stuff but have made it a POS to use. New unimproved USM site a cluster phuck
The product schedule page is a fail. How do you not list the price next to each item which is available for purchase on this page? You have to click on the item to see what the price is from the schedule page.
I agree Shrks2th, and think many or most of the updates are a fail. Mike Unser should have his work cut out for him, trying to extrapolate the sales data, with the new format. Just not user friendly at all IMO. I also do not like the new version of Add to bag and remind me, as KC&SO noted above. It was much easier previously, from a visual standpoint to see what was and what wasn’t available. Oh well, it is what it is I guess.
CaliSkier,
The oversize format almost makes me dizzy. I don’t understand the point of it.
sharks2th,
Honestly, I can’t remember the price ever being listed with the item on the schedule page.
The Mint’s new dumb down website redesign is a graphical mess, inefficient, not intuitive, and difficult to use.
Your tax dollars at work 🙁
Taxes are likely as old as human civilization itself. The difference these days is that the recipients of the taxes collected aren’t as straightforward as those in olden times about the fact of being in full control of the proceeds. Currently these self-same big shots call themselves “servants of the people” but they still rob us blind and use the financial resources for what they and not the taxpayer decides is right.
I wholeheartedly agree with this comment section’s consensus review of the new Mint site – it sucks and is MUCH worse than what preceded it. If the Mint truly considers the “functionality” of the current site to be an improvement over the old one, that revelation fills me with terror at the thought of trying to order a Flowing Hair gold coin on November 14.
REB,
I’m wondering the same My Friend! This new and improved website is a complete FAIL!! So glad I’m done with the Games, Gimmicks, Overpriced PM’s and Premiums of the US Mint! As CAG used to say, more and more gimmicks, lower and lower mintages and higher premiums. That’s the FUTURE of the US Mint & The common Collector!! Who will continue purchasing these overpriced coins with less than desirable designs? Not Me!! I’m going to sit back, grab a bag of popcorn and watch the circus unfold!
Well, as always, Good Luck ALL!!!
REB,
And if no noteworthy circus has set up its tent there are always the sports channels.
OMG! I hate the redesigned USMint website. I can’t find anything here.
But they used AI to design it. It has to be better, AI recommended it. 😀
Antonio,
✅
Well, after reading all of the above comments regarding the Mint’s self-proclaimed “new and improved website” I can only say, OMG!
REVERAND
The “New Website” is HOSED up! It takes six window reloads to view the entire 2024 Mint Schedule instead of a long list you can scroll down. The Circulating Coins” section has information ONLY from back in July. You cannot access the intervening monthly reports. The Numismatic Products download to Excel file produces a file with no actual numbers in the sales column. Instead it is some location data, etc. They need to roll it back until they FULLY check out the software.
They broke it and now will take credit for having to fix something that was not broken until they decided to it. The best way I can describe this mess is FUBAR.
