Ordering, Mintage and Price
The 2024 Limited Edition Silver Proof Set will be available for order beginning at noon ET directly from the U.S. Mint. Collectors can place their orders by visiting the Mint’s product page dedicated to annual sets.
The mintage for this set is capped at 50,000, consistent with previous sets, with an initial household order limit of one.
Its pricing at $255 continues a trend of annual increases, with last year’s set debuting at $220 and the 2021 set starting at $201. Last year’s set, now also priced at $255, remains available and had sales of 27,722 through Oct. 27. Sets from earlier years sold out around their 50,000 availability mark.
I purchased the 2021 only because it had both the Type I and Type II Proof Silver Eagles in it! I don’t remember what I paid tho. It’s still sealed/unopened in the original Mint shipping box. At least there were two Proof silver eagles in it. A much better deal compared to the years after 2021. That was my last one I’ll be purchasing, 1) too much money, overpriced, 2) I don’t collect/stack silver any longer unless it’s to flip to make money for purchasing gold.
Well, as always, Good Luck ALL!!!
AKBob,
The 2021 edition of this product was indeed the last worthwhile one to get. I’m glad I have one in my collection and I’m also happy to have called it a day with that one.
This one was unique for the 2 ASEs. On the other hand, it had only 2 quarters.
The Mint’s 2021 LESPS was priced at $235.
Easy pass the and now..for ME. Everyone else buy all you want but the Mint really is a money grabber now, customers besides the big bouys are just flotsam and jetsam on Ventris’ radar. I got a ‘21 ASE proof Ty.2 on eBay for $50….0gp but really mint!
John Q. Coinage,
With seemingly everything in the economy constantly shooting up in price one has to make cuts somewhere. Coins are nice to have but they aren’t necessary to everyday life, so that is one of the areas I’ve chosen to make my deepest spending cuts. In fact, if the Mint doesn’t come up with a reasonably-priced must have, then I don’t really need anything from them.
AKBob,
I did the same as you! Mine is also in the box and unopened. Now if I could get a set of these with a ‘no S’ dime. I’d be happy to pay the mints ridiculous price for them. Are you still getting the Au FH coin coming up? With Au spot closing in on $2800/oz., it’ll be expensive…radically expensive.
Craig,
It might be easier to score a Lottery Jackpot or win an Olympic Medal than to find a no-S dime, but hey, as they say “hope springs eternal”. 🙂
Sooooooo overpriced for a set that has coins previously available differently packaged. Nothing unique or limited
Domenic Vaiasicca,
That’s an excellent point. It’s been suggested before that if the nickel and cent were also made of 99.9% silver this might even be something to consider, but as it is, no.
$255.00 for an item containing $81.39 of silver at current spot. Thanks but no thanks.
Kaiser — I learned long ago that I always seemed to be rooting for the losing team. For instance, while I did not attend UCLA (because it did not offer my major), I always wanted (way back then but not now) to have gone there. And one of my high school classmates even achieved the only Heisman Trophy ever awarded to a UCLA player. (Btw, that is a great Trivia question.) But root as I might for UCLA, they always seemed to lose when the played USC. So one time I decided to root for their arch-rival Trojans. And guess… Read more »
Gary Beban…..I am UCLA the Mrs. uSC…..so when we dated the loser of the SCUCLA football game bought dinner. I won like 5 years in a row. We got married she won like the next 10 straight.
I didn’t vote for the loser….because to me neither was worth a vote. Sorry kids, where I am Trump is an instant loser and Kam a winner…..oh brudder where’s the whiskey
JQC —
Over the years I’ll bet I’ve asked over 500 UCLA grads who the only UCLA player was that took the Heisman … and only a couple ever knew. Not to be too inquisitive, but did you Google it — OR — did you actually know the answer? Just asking ….
— Mike
Mike Hunt and John Q. Coinage, I had a slight advantage in the Gary Beban identification contest in that the fella was effectively single-handedly responsible for essentially ruining the up to that point perfect record my beloved Michigan State team (Steve Juday, Gene Washington, Clint Jones, Bubba Smith, Bob Apisa et al.) had in the 1965-66 season. I happened to be in my Freshman year there and in MSU’s first game of that football season they managed to hold Beban & Co. aka UCLA to a field goal for a final score of 12-3 in what was then the only… Read more »
Kaiser — Sorry about that. Gary led somewhat of a charmed life in many respects. At Sequoia High his front line averaged 232 pounds when all the other schools may have hit 200 at best. I think 3 of his front line went on to professional ball. And as you pointed out, others literally gave themselves up for him. But Vince Lombardi changed all that. Gary was a “Tail Back” in high school and considered himself a QB up until reporting to Vince. Vince told him that he was a Running Back, period, end of discussion. And Vince never lost… Read more »
Mike Hunt,
No regrets there of any kind, my friend, regarding that Rose Bowl upset defeat; the ordinarily prolific MSU offense clearly wasn’t up to snuff that day. It’s interesting how otherwise great-performing teams can end up having their worst game just when it happens to matter the most. The following year MSU again went undefeated during the regular season; the only “blemish” on their record was that 10-10 tie with Notre Dame that became known as the “Game of the Century.” Cis boom ba!
Kaiser,
Exactly. (Another) easy pass.
Jeffrey Schwartz, It’s good to see you on here, especially considering you have always been one of those voices of reason who tends to call things as they really are. I don’t know whether or not you’ve been keeping up with our banter on this site but if you have you’re aware that as much as we would like to continue giving the Mint chance after yet another chance we can’t help but conclude that all too many times we end up being disappointed not just by the Mint’s ever more extreme pricing but also various other uneccessarily disappointing aspects… Read more »
It is no wonder why there are so many items still available with the US mint with these prices Gold and Silver both high prices.. What is the price going to be on the 2024 Flowing hair gold coin going to be no image of the coin yet think it will sell out fast?
Price likely $3,900…. Bulk sales likely under the table have begun…. How u think a joker has 70s up the Gazoo to sell
John Q. Coinage and Mike Petraitis,
That’s the Mint for you; outrageously high prices and equally outrageous hijinks.
Look them up on ebay, see what they’re going for. No $255 a set. I think the Mint priced themselves out of this one. Time will tell. I believe I bought the 2021 set as well. The one and only one I’ve bought.
Antonio,
Due to the very factors you mentioned in your comment my coin collection is now pretty much complete as far as I’m concerned. At this point in my life I would rather spend what money I have on doing things rather than accumulating stuff; those days are over.
I have the 2012 and 2013 LESPS.., they’re all but trashed now…
The coins have turned either light yellow, orangie yellow, beige, or pinkish tan – I presume from the chemicals in the print on the cardboard within the sealed plastic case,
Also have some 2016 Walking Libs with red spots that have developed, total bummer, hoped that would be limited to gold buffalos.
KCSO, I hate hearing of modern silver coins going bad, i.e., toning (ugly), yellow, goldfish and worse of ALL, gold getting those dang red spots! Why do some do fine and others aren’t? I’ve been pretty lucky so far (knock on wood )!! I have only purchased the 2021 LEPS set. I only purchased it because it had both of the Type I and Type II Proof Silver Eagles. I thot it was unique and “might” carry its value. Like John Q said, you can usually pick up proof ASE’s off Ebay cheaper than the Mints release prices. That pretty… Read more »
AKBob,
I can see where this is going; you’re on your way to being the Alaskan Goldfinger!
a.k.a. Klondike Bob
You guys are killing me! I NEVER ever thot I’d be a gold bug, honestly! I couldn’t afford cheap gold let alone Mint Numi Gold, pre ‘33 or modern bullion gold!! I didn’t make that kind of money plus I had to answer to the Boss, lol! I was a Silver Stacker! That’s what I could afford. I loved stacking silver! Bought many, many rolls too! After a couple decades of that, I got older and figured I needed to unload all this silver so the wife wouldn’t have to deal with it. Shoot, I didn’t want to deal with… Read more »
AKBob, “I appreciate ALL that Post here. I love hearing everyone’s take on coin collecting, opinions whether I agree or not, learning things from what you ALL share here which helps others like myself make good decisions when selecting what I’m interested in. Some on here have got me interested in things I hadn’t considered, so thank you to Everyone on here. Your ideas, thoughts, opinions, suggestions, reads, etc is greatly appreciated!” I just had to reprint part of your above comment as the best way to help underline and emphasize my own personal reaction to and observation of what… Read more »
That’s why I only buy bullion lately. Spots don’t matter.
Mark In Florida,
Well, spots do matter on numismatic coins, animals and windshields, but not bullion.
Keep Calm & Stack On,
What a shame. You spend all that money on bright shiny things and end up with that. 🙁
Whoa, did someone just drop open the trap door under precious metal prices?
Perhaps some profit taking, or safe haven demand temporarily taking a break?
Either way, this years tip for my neighborhood “Garbage Man” will be a nice looking ASE!…
Rick,
Thoughtful generosity is always appreciated. Kudos, my friend!

Thanks. I’ll wait to see actual photos of this coin.
Check out the last two photos of the FHG….
SURPRISE…………
There’s a ………..
Here we go again…
USM Auction item ? …with signed numbered COA..?
$10,000.., to $20,000
KCSO,
I think they’ll auction for $25K to $50K!!! These will be more desirable than the V75 IMHO. The V75 is a $20K-$25K in PR70. These FHG will be out of our price range! Here we go AGAIN! I’m NOT happy the Mints going to more than likely Auction some or all of the FHG w/230 Privy!! Lower and lower mintages, higher and higher prices, more and more gimmicks!! That should be the Mint’s Mission Statement now!! 🙁
Well, as always, Good Luck ALL, cause we’re going to need it!!!
What? Did I miss something? There’s a privy mark? I didn’t see any mention of it on the description of the product on the Mint’s site.
The description explicitly says “No Privy” Two pictures show a privy , the others do not!
The description explicitly says “No Privy.” Two pictures show a privy , the others do not!
I see edge lettering (which is mentioned in the Mint’s description) but I don’t see a privy. Wouldn’t the privy be on the front of the coin and look similar to the silver medal’s privy? I don’t see it. Again, am I missing something?
Pictures with the 230 privy have vanished. Fast edit by the web page editors!
Hmm … interesting. I wonder if the privy gold coins exist or if they’re simply an AI fever dream.
AKBob,
If it turns out there is no privy, the upside is a lowering of the stress level. 😉
Moe money for coins.
Cheers
… and another plus is that metals are down.
VA Bob, Just in time for the FHG coin release! NOT!!! No one should even think this, that the gold prices will be down, if it goes like it ALWAYS does!! Every single release it seems like gold goes up right before the release, lol! I doubt the Mint will disappoint us. As far as the Privy that was in the photos on the Mints website that I guess has disappeared, I’m going to say someone messed up and accidentally let the cat out of the bag so to say!! There’s going to be a Privy, no doubt. Remember what… Read more »
No privy marked coins will be offered for the gold FH coins, unless a few will be presented to certain individuals as “gifts”. Perhaps Elon Musk will get one.
Antonio,
As best as I can tell Elon Musk has already been gifted the keys to everything, but I suppose a little trinket to celebrate that won’t hurt.
I wasn’t really speaking to the US Mint’s “precious metals for the wealthy”. More like bullion.
FHG Product Page – there was two photos of the FHG showing the ‘230’ privy.., it’s been removed now, obviously,
The inmates are running the mint!
Or perhaps there are adversarial factions taking turns at the Mint’s controls!
