Released on Jan. 28, options for purchasing $1 rolls, bags, and boxes resulted in combined sales of 1,526,700 coins. For context, the Mint’s weekly report lacked sales for the new dollar, but CoinNews requested and received the data. As a result, the total reflects sales from launch through this morning, Feb. 5, covering a few extra days compared to typical debut figures.
For recent comparisons:
- The 2024 dollar, commemorating the Indian Citizenship Act of 1924, debuted with 1,465,875 coins sold.
- The 2023 dollar, featuring Maria Tallchief and four additional dancers in a balletic pose, opened with 1,127,325 coins sold.
- The 2022 dollar, depicting Ely S. Parker, a U.S. Army officer, engineer, and tribal diplomat, started with 1,690,425 coins sold.
- The 2021 dollar, honoring the service of American Indians in the U.S. military, began with 1,208,400 coins sold.
Broader Sales Trends
As previously noted, the Mint’s latest sales data reflects significant adjustments. Aside from the newly released dollar options, only two other Mint products recorded gains, while the rest remained unchanged or declined. In total, 149 products saw their sales move backwards – more than a quarter of the Mint’s current numismatic offerings. Weekly declines are typically limited to a handful of products, such as the six reported in the previous update.
All 2025 Marine Corps 250th Anniversary Commemorative Coins logged losses, led by the 2025-P Proof Silver Dollar, which dropped by 1,252. Several Morgan and Peace dollars also declined, with the 2024 Reverse Proof Silver Set seeing the steepest drop at 277.
A range of other silver products posted losses, though to a lesser extent, along with rolls and bags of quarters and varions Innovation dollars.
While the 2025-W Proof American Silver Eagle did not decline, its weekly gain was several thousand fewer than the amount lost in the previous report.

If not for the NA$ release, it would be a Top 2 List with the ASE-W Proof & Congrat set. Everything else either had a loss or stayed even.
The QQQ is the SPY on steroids.
Trump 2.0 is Trump 1.0 on steroids.
The upcoming United States Mint Director will do what Ryder’s impact on the Mint was on steroids.
It is Great to be an Investor.
Not so much for being a Collector.
Mint prices will rise significantly, or some offerings will be eliminated completely.
What are you, a shill for the Gold industry? Gold, gold, gold 24-7 it’s getting quite old already. This is a collector site BTW. Why don’t try another site? As for Trump, yes, he’s making gold go up by destroying the country. Anything for the price of gold, eh? A self-fulfilling prophesy, or more like market manipulation.
Gold hits record high as investors flock to safe-haven amid tariff war | Reuters
I think you’re a hack on steroids.
Cag,
As I’ve said before,
2024/25 is reminiscent of 2008/09 when it comes to the Mint.
I expect changes & cuts to the Mint’s offerings as you appear to as well, and it couldn’t come sooner imo.
Rick,
Ryder was the first Mint Director to bring the Mint into the 21st century. I expect similar performance from the new Mint Director. Gibson has been stagnating.
Good things are on the horizon with the Mint…
Stagnant description is accurate along with misrepresenting USM sales intelligence and intentions.Pre 33 forget Ventris, DOGE gets there Cag will be happy w $130 ASE proofs and $4,200 1z Au proofs…..just say 150% over spot a most excellent investment
Man, you sure do suffer from delusions of grandeur and Dunning-Kruger effect.
Rick,
Agreed that it couldn’t come soon enough.
Cag investors don’t pay 50% over spot for items that have broken leg$ in the marketplace. Except for the FH items the USM is a toilet for “investing”. Stocks, ETFs, better sports cards and such. Current resent eBay sales 10th z OGP $320-335, USM price @$415; 1/4z OGP sold @$725, mint investor’s direct price from USM $965….. and the best of the Morgan reissues is the 1st D in 65……
Buying mint gold and silver or other PMs is not a good investment IMO used to be…..unless your window is $5,000 Au spot…
As an investor you sure are stupid to be so hyped on gold, when all of the riches are in real estate.
A sixth consecutive day of All-Time Highs for GLD seems unlikely. Since its inception, GLD has only had five positive days in a row 1.6% of the time.
Blah, blah, blah, gold, gold, gold
The downward year-to-year trends, seemingly across the board on most options, should concern the Mint. But, I wonder if it does.
Yes, indeed, all in a downward trend. But according to the grand gold poohbah here demand is completely unaffected by price, and all of the silver and clad products have inelastic demand. H’mmm, it doesn’t look to me like any of these products are a necessity. I’m surprised a genius like this hasn’t been tapped to fill a newly vacant high-ranking position in the Trump Treasury Dept.
NONE of the USM current trinkets lineup is a necessity. Food, shelter, clothes necessary USM overpriced trinkets, nahhhh. Call me a negative Nelly, but it’s TRUE…. Despite myopic cheerleaders and Ventrosity
Please keep the politics out of the discussions.
I fear more will drop out as the Kaiser did if the discussions get politicized again.
We seem to have to have this reminder posted every couple of months.
Couldn’t agree more Dave! But I wonder why Kaiser made such an abrupt departure from this site as I didn’t see anyone attack his political views. Of course, since the mints products haven’t been all that appealing to me lately (pricing structure, fees and all the commemoratives!), I may have missed something. Personally, I don’t think anyone here will change another’s view on anything related to politics, so why bother. Besides, the stock market is a whole lot more interesting these days than buying some overpriced PM coins. We’ll have to see if anything changes at the mint, but I’m… Read more »
It was an attack on Kaiser personally by Rick, joined in by E 1, AK Bob and cagcrisp insulting his character and intellect. And yes, Rick went after him politically, too. Pretty despicable Rick to knife someone who had be friendly to you like that, then to pass the knife around. Further, I now see they continued to attack me for defending Kaiser long after I left the conversation.
DaveSWFL, where were you Jan 10 when the barrage started on Kaiser?
Help! I just opened one of my safes and the Dansco coin book spines and sides are showing what i guess is mildew(whitish) In 50 years of collecting…first time i spotted anything….ive kept silica packs in them. Could this have been caused by keeping some coins in their brown shipping box? Is best solution to rebuy the books and chuck these???
It is highly possible the shipping boxes picked up mold and mildew spores in the shipping. Those shipping warehouses are damp with poor climate control. Anywhere you touched those books and left finger oils is a place mildew will grow. Additionally, the mint shipping boxes are not archival quality and will offgas harmful chemicals. If your paper and cardboard products are not archival quality, the gases they leach will eventually reach your coins and cause damage or toning. Any wood based products you store there should be archival quality products. Aluminum sulfate used in some wood product processing is a… Read more »
Shark that’s some good information, thanks.
If anyone has been negligent in regards to storage, it is I. But I’m working on it. I had used small silica packs in various places, but that was a long time ago(15 yrs), and in some cases(still)stored in shoe boxes lol. Contamination was/is random. From unopened ASE rolls, Mint sets, to OGP ASE’s, toning is hit & miss. Just the slightest slit in the sealed Ag bars would tarnish the metal , and CO is fairly arid….
So this leads me to my next experiment? Several months back I had dug out a few ‘Sealed’ ATB 5oz Pucks to send in for F/S grading, but didn’t.
I don’t think it’s worth it now. They’ve been sitting in my office just staring back at me, as I’ve been ignoring them. They’re nothing special?
A 2012-P Chaco, 2013-P Great Basin & Perry’s Victory. They’re in the typical Mint box, and with the typical un-protective single sheet of pack-paper. Should I open & report back on their condition?
Open sesa me.
You got it(later), I’m interested to see them.
They’ve been in my basement in a box for the last 12 years(until my recent dig-out).
Look at this 2015 $1 below. It was the ‘top’ coin in a 20 coin ASE roll. I never opened the roll(until sold in ’24), so this toning occurred over 9-10 years. The other 19 coins were blast white, interesting.
That outside edge coin in the container acted as your contamination absorber. This worked in the same way intercept products react with environmental chemicals. The contamination bonded with the first reactive source it contacted, being the outer silver coin. It is a sign the container was being exposed to harmful airborne chemicals/gases.
Shark you’re onto something(as usual)!
The photo below shows exactly how I had stored the roll.
I had it, along with other rolls wrapped in their own receipts sitting in a larger cardboard box. So there you have it…
I guess the one positive that came out of this ASE venture was that I was able to double my money on it. I try to buy on the ‘dips’ whenever I can…
PS: Mint rolls were often cherry-picked back then, and when shipped to customers they usually had a ‘buffer’ between the underside of the lid and the top coin(foam/bubble wrap)to prevent rattling. This roll had that buffer, otherwise the entire top of the coin would’ve been toned?…
Here is another 2015 ‘top coin’ example from a different roll.
The toning shape formed around the foam buffer between the underside of the lid and the top of the coin…
Whats interesting is the inner pages seem unaffected
Harry is correct on the humidity. The inner pages don’t have any air exposure so that’s why they are unaffected so far.
Yikes, sharks! Many thanks for the tips.
Start with humidity control….I keep a dehumidifier in my safe room set at 30% humidity, a ceiling fan which runs continually, and a heater dehumidifier in each safe…album replacement is your best bet after getting humidity under control.
Since this is a coin site, I’m going to post about some gold coins, specifically AGE W-proof 4-coin sets. The following table looks at US Mint release opening prices adjusted for inflation and compared to current retail and current spot (using APMEX for current retail pricing for OGP w Coa’s). Yes, there are many dealer prices out there- some more, some less. But suffice to say that anyone selling to a dealer will take a hit, getting markedly below their retail price. Or, if you sell on your own through eBay or another site there are selling fees. So, I’ll… Read more »
Here’s a similar table looking at clad proof sets:
Anyone buying clad proof sets as an investment needs to widen their prospective a bit. I was at my favorite LCS a few months back, there for several hours….an employee was cracking past year clad proof sets and roiling them. The proprietor told me there was 0 market for them, but occasionally sells rolls at 10% over face…..He does look carefully at the halves for coins that might grade well..
Harry B, that is certainly true of the older proof sets. And I’m not advocating investing. What the tables illustrate, though, is that the resale on many of the recent year proof sets is better than the resale on the 4-coin gold set. As for cracking open old proof sets or mint sets, the parts are always greater than the whole.
Thanks again for the charts. I’ve got all of these in the same condition that I received them from the Mint. I’m strictly a collector here. None of these sets will likely be sold during my lifetime.
“It is Great to be an Investor.
Not so much for being a Collector.”
Referring to GLD and SLV….
If you use a current price of GLD of $266.19 that would be a Y/Y ROI of 42% (for me)
If you use a current price of SLV of $29.68 that would be a Y/Y ROI of 45% (for me).
Considering a portion of those gains are non taxable, Not bad…For an Investment…

Hi Bob, hope you’re doing well!
I Love Gold Too!
Hey Rick. Doing very well and thank you for asking. I’ve been quite for a bit cause I couldn’t post. Something happened and I couldn’t post, it kept saying URL was invalid. I even contacted Coin News twice but got no response. Finally, another poster here that I chat with off the record, was able to figure out what the trouble was so now I can post again. YES, GOLD…….GOLD……GOLD……I LOVE GOLD!! There hasn’t been much for me to post about lately anyways. I wish fellow posters here were respectful and not bully other posters here. Good to hear AK,
Except for eBay, I’m in the same boat. My 1099-K was $52k ouch, and never again! Much of that was for ‘trading-up’. I’m going to be selling many items elsewhere moving forward. They used to not force you into earnings reporting…
The other poster on here being a bully? Not sure. An angry person? Not sure.
They were the only person in this entire thread to proudly post name calling, and political digs.
But, he is the smartest person in the room about everything. So there you go….
Everyone Interested:
Returning to the issue of toning earlier, it should be noted that toning/tarnish on silver is not oxidation, as it is on most metals. Rather it is silver sulfide that forms from hydrogen sulfide vapors in the air. No question that dehumidifiers and air purifiers work, and help keep the problem minimized. If you live in a major metro area, you may have more trouble, because of the sulfide vapor from air pollution.

Lately, I’ve been investing heavily in brass and lead, myself…
Interesting stuff, Sam.
