Austrian Mint Launches Commemorative Silver Coins, "The Abbey of Klosterneuburg"
The Abbey of Klosterneuburg coins are the 5th minted in the Austrian Mint’s silver commemorative series “Great Abbeys of Austria”
When one travels down the Danube, whether by river or by land, just before reaching Vienna one encounters the town of Klosterneuburg nestling around the ancient abbey on the heights overlooking the Danube Valley. Since the year 1114 canons regular have been living here according to the Rule of St. Augustine.
This abbey is the fifth coin in the Austrian Mint’s silver series “Great Abbeys of Austria” and will be issued on 16th April, 2008.
The Augustinian abbey of Klosterneuburg was founded in 1114 by Margrave Leopold III (who was subsequently canonised and ranks as the patron saint of Austria). The famous legend is that Leopold’s wife, Agnes, lost a precious scarf in the wind which Leopold himself found some years later while hunting.

The National Bank of Poland (NBP) has released three historical and exceptionally well designed coins commemorating the 65th anniversary of the 1943 Jewish Warsaw Ghetto Uprising.
The commemorative coins include new two-zlotys minted in Nordic Gold (mostly copper) with a mintage level of 1.75 million, proof silver 20-zlotys with a limited mintage of 14,500 and proof gold 200-zlotys with a mintage of 12,000 coins.

Like clockwork the latest edition of Mint Error News Magazine, issue #23, is now available. The free quarterly magazine is published by Mike Byers and is an absolute excellent resource for collectors who would like to know more or read about the very latest in minted error coins.
On top of the informative value of the magazine, it also contains an excellent mint error coin price guide compiled by Al Levy of alscoins.com. Levy uses eBay as a resource and lists pages upon pages of recent closing prices for various types of error coins.
While the content is first rate and the price guide valuable, what really places these free magazines over the top is the exceptionally high quality coin photos. The photos are like guides in themselves and are outstanding tools in identifying coin errors and building knowledge.
