2008 U.S. Mint Quarters Silver Proof Set on Sale
2008 State Quarter Silver Proof Sets are now on sale by the United States Mint with each priced at $25.95. The non silver version of the state quarter proof sets went on sale back in January and are available for $13.95.
The main difference between the two is the 90% silver contained within each quarter of the silver sets. Both sets contain five proof quarters with their honoring commemorative designs:
- Oklahoma - “Scissortail Flycatcher”
- New Mexico - “Land of Enchantment”
- Arizona - “Grand Canyon State”
- Alaska - “The Great Land”
- Hawaii - “King Kamehameha I."
New York First Day $2 Single Notes for Collectors on Sale
The Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) has announced that the First Day New York 2008 $2 Single Note is available for sale. This is the second in the 2008 series. The first $2 banknotes offered in January of 2008, the Atlanta Single Note, sold out extremely fast.
The New York collector's note features:
- Crisp, uncirculated Series 2003A
- Serial number beginning with “2008xxxxD”
- Designation from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York

New Hologram Snowboarding Coin from the Royal Canadian Mint
The Royal Canadian Mint (RCM) launched the Olympic Snowboarding 25-cent coin into circulation on Feb. 20, 2008. Now the Mint is offering a special limited edition $25 silver hologram snowboarding coin as well.
Like its circulating 25-cent cousin, the innovative hologram coin celebrates the XXI Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, British Columbia.
The $25 sterling silver coin is part of the Silver Hologram Coin Series, which includes 15 different designs or themes. The snowboarding theme is the first for 2008 and the sixth in the hologram series that will continue through the end of 2009. Only 45,000 coins will be minted for each theme.
