Oklahoma State Quarter Circulating: Bags and Rolls AvailableThe Oklahoma state quarter officially launched into circulation Monday, Jan. 28. Thousands of people were on hand at the state's Oklahoma History Center in Oklahoma City where the ceremonially event took place.

United States Mint Acting Deputy Director Dan Shaver joined Governor and Mrs. Brad Henry in hosting the festivities.

 

"2007 was an exciting year for the Sooner State, celebrating its centennial,” said Shaver. "Today's issuance of this beautiful Oklahoma quarter serves as an encore to the state's centennial, and the coin itself will serve as a lasting, nationwide tribute to Oklahoma, its heritage and its people.”

IRVINE, Calif. – Bowers and Merena Auctions, America's leading rare coin auction house, continues as Official Auctioneer of the Baltimore Coin and Currency Convention in 2008, with the next auction scheduled for February 27 to March 2, 2008, at the Baltimore Convention Center. This is the first of three Baltimore auctions by Bowers and Merena in 2008, continuing their longstanding and ongoing association with the convention.

For the 1870-S Seated Liberty Silver Dollar, only nine specimens have been auctioned to date and just three more are rumored to exist

There is a long list of highlights offered in the 3,220-lot auction, most notably a very rare 1870-S Seated Liberty Silver Dollar, certified VF 25 by PCGS and considered to be one of the greatest American coin rarities. This particular coin, known as The Farouk-Schultz Specimen, enjoys a prestigious pedigree and auction history including the 1935 Norman Schultz Auction and Sotheby’s 1954 sale of the King Farouk collection, “The Palace Collections of Egypt” auction.

Error Coins Galore in Mint Error News Magazine, Issue #22 The latest edition of Mint Error News Magazine has been published and, as always, is free. Each issue is eagerly awaited and the magazine is a mainstay for many mint error collectors.

The magazine is on its fifth year and is published by an expert in the area, Mike Byers. It's packed with valuable information and spectacular error coin photos.

There are several focused articles on types of errors in every magazine issue. This particular issue dives in deeper to take a look at errors in 2007 Presidential $1 Coin proofs, the 1969-S Lincoln Cent Double Die and discusses several "die cap" errors. The descriptive example photos are outstanding.
